Exodus 22:21-24

21 a“You shall not wrong a sojourner or oppress him, for you were sojourners in the land of Egypt. 22 bYou shall not mistreat any widow or fatherless child. 23If you do mistreat them, and they ccry out to me, I will surely dhear their cry, 24and my wrath will burn, and I will kill you with the sword, and eyour wives shall become widows and your children fatherless.

Nehemiah Stops Oppression of the Poor

1Now there arose fa great outcry of the people and of their wives gagainst their Jewish brothers. 2For there were those who said, “With our sons and our daughters, we are many. So let us get grain, that we may eat and keep alive.” 3There were also those who said, “We are mortgaging our fields, our vineyards, and our houses to get grain because of the famine.” 4And there were those who said, “We have borrowed money for hthe king’s tax on our fields and our vineyards. 5Now iour flesh is as the flesh of our brothers, our children are as their children. Yet jwe are forcing our sons and our daughters to be slaves, and some of our daughters have already been enslaved, but it is not in our power to help it, for other men have our fields and our vineyards.”

Job 24:2-12

2Some move klandmarks;
they seize flocks and pasture them.
3They drive away the donkey of the fatherless;
they ltake the widow’s ox for a pledge.
4They mthrust the poor off the road;
the poor of the earth nall hide themselves.
5Behold, like wild donkeys in the desert

Ezekiel 18:12

12oppresses the poor and needy, ycommits robbery, zdoes not restore the pledge, aalifts up his eyes to the idols, abcommits abomination,

Ezekiel 22:12

12In you acthey take bribes to shed blood; adyou take interest and profit
That is, profit that comes from charging interest to the poor (compare Leviticus 25:36)
and make gain of your neighbors by extortion; but afme you have forgotten, declares the Lord God.
