Deuteronomy 16:18-20

Justice

18“You shall appoint ejudges and officers in all your towns that the Lord your God is giving you, according to your tribes, and they shall judge the people with righteous judgment. 19 fYou shall not pervert justice. gYou shall not show partiality, hand you shall not accept a bribe, for a bribe blinds the eyes of the wise and subverts the cause of the righteous. 20Justice, and only justice, you shall follow, that you may live and inherit the land that the Lord your God is giving you.

Deuteronomy 17:8-9

Legal Decisions by Priests and Judges

8If any case arises requiring decision between one kind of homicide and another, one kind of legal right and another, or one kind of assault and another, any case within your towns that is too difficult for you, then you shall arise and go up to ithe place that the Lord your God will choose. 9 jAnd you shall come to the Levitical priests and to the judge who is in office in those days, and you shall consult them, and kthey shall declare to you the decision.

Deuteronomy 19:17-19

17then both parties to the dispute shall appear before the Lord, lbefore the priests and the judges who are in office in those days. 18The judges shall minquire diligently, and if the witness is a false witness and has accused his brother falsely, 19 nthen you shall do to him as he had meant to do to his brother. So you shall purge the evil

2 Samuel 23:3

3The God of Israel has spoken;

When one rules justly over men,
ruling qin the fear of God,

2 Chronicles 19:6-10

6and said to the judges, “Consider what you do, rfor you judge not for man but for the Lord. He is with you in giving judgment. 7Now then, let the fear of the Lord be upon you. Be careful what you do, for sthere is no injustice with the Lord our God, tor partiality or taking bribes.”

8Moreover, in Jerusalem Jehoshaphat uappointed certain Levites and priests and heads of families of Israel, vto give judgment for the Lord and to decide disputed cases. They had their seat at Jerusalem. 9And he charged them: wThus you shall do in the fear of the Lord, in faithfulness, xand with your whole heart: 10 ywhenever a case comes to you from your brothers who live in their cities, concerning bloodshed, law or commandment, statutes or rules, then you shall warn them, that they may not incur guilt before the Lord and zwrath may not come upon you and your brothers. Thus you shall do, and you will not incur guilt.
