6Thus says the Lord:f“For three transgressions of gGaza,
and for four, I will not revoke the punishment,
because hthey carried into exile a whole people
to deliver them up to Edom.
7So I will send a fire upon the wall of iGaza,
and it shall devour her strongholds.
8I will cut off the inhabitants from jAshdod,
and him who holds the scepter from Ashkelon;
I will turn my hand against Ekron,
and the remnant of the Philistines shall perish,”
says the Lord God.
Zephaniah 2:4-7
4 kFor Gaza shall be deserted,and Ashkelon shall become a desolation;
Ashdod’s people shall be driven out at noon,
and Ekron shall be uprooted.
5 Woe to lyou inhabitants of the seacoast,
you nation of mthe Cherethites!
nThe word of the Lord is against you,
oO Canaan, land of the Philistines;
and I will destroy you puntil no inhabitant is left.
6 qAnd you, O seacoast, rshall be pastures,
with meadows ▼
▼Or caves
for shepherdsand folds for flocks.
7 tThe seacoast shall become the possession
of uthe remnant of the house of Judah,
von which they shall graze,
and in the houses of Ashkelon
they shall lie down at evening.
For the Lord their God wwill be mindful of them
and xrestore their fortunes.
Zechariah 9:5-7
5 yAshkelon shall see it, and be afraid;Gaza too, and shall writhe in anguish;
Ekron also, because its hopes are confounded.
The king shall perish from Gaza;
Ashkelon shall be uninhabited;
6 za mixed people ▼ shall dwell in Ashdod,
and I will cut off the pride of Philistia.
7I will take away abits blood from its mouth,
and acits abominations from between its teeth;
adit too shall be a remnant for our God;
it shall be like aea clan in Judah,
and Ekron shall be like the Jebusites.
