The Priests’ Garments

1“Then bring near to you aAaron your brother, and his sons with him, from among the people of Israel, to serve me as priestsAaron and Aaron’s sons, bNadab and Abihu, Eleazar and Ithamar.

Leviticus 8:2

2Take Aaron and his sons with him, and cthe garments and dthe anointing oil and the bull of the sin offering and the two rams and the basket of unleavened bread.

Numbers 3:3

3These are the names of the sons of Aaron, ethe anointed priests, fwhom he ordained to serve as priests.

Numbers 16:5

5and he said to Korah and all his company, “In the morning the Lord will show gwho is his,

Numbers 16:7

7put fire in them and put incense on them before the Lord tomorrow, and the man whom the Lord chooses shall be the holy one. lYou have gone too far, sons of Levi!”

Numbers 16:10

10and that he has brought you near him, and all your brothers the sons of Levi with you? And would you seek the priesthood also?

Numbers 16:35

35And mfire came out from the Lord and consumed nthe 250 men offering the incense.

Numbers 16:40

40to be a reminder to the people of Israel, so othat no outsider, who is not of the descendants of Aaron, should draw near to burn incense before the Lord, lest he become like Korah and his company—as the Lord said to him through Moses.

Numbers 16:46-48

46And Moses said to Aaron, “Take your censer, and put fire on it from off the altar and lay incense on it and carry it quickly to the congregation and make atonement for them, for pwrath has gone out from the Lord; the plague has begun.” 47So Aaron took it as Moses said and ran into the midst of the assembly. And behold, the plague had already begun among the people. And he put on the incense and made atonement for the people. 48And he stood between the dead and the living, and qthe plague was stopped.

Numbers 17:3-11

3and write Aaron’s name on the staff of Levi. For there shall be one staff for the head of each fathershouse. 4Then you shall deposit them in the tent of meeting before the testimony, rwhere I meet with you. 5And the staff of the man swhom I choose shall sprout. Thus I will make to cease from me tthe grumblings of the people of Israel, which they grumble against you.” 6Moses spoke to the people of Israel. And all their chiefs gave him staffs, one for each chief, according to their fathershouses, twelve staffs. And the staff of Aaron was among their staffs. 7And Moses deposited the staffs before the Lord in uthe tent of the testimony.

8On the next day Moses went into the tent of the testimony, and behold, the staff of Aaron for the house of Levi had sprouted and put forth buds and produced blossoms, and it bore ripe almonds. 9Then Moses brought out all the staffs from before the Lord to all the people of Israel. And they looked, and each man took his staff. 10And the Lord said to Moses, “Put back vthe staff of Aaron before the testimony, to be kept was a sign for the rebels, xthat you may make an end of their grumblings against me, lest they die.” 11Thus did Moses; as the Lord commanded him, so he did.

Numbers 18:1-5

Duties of Priests and Levites

1So the Lord said to Aaron, “You and your sons and your father’s house with you shall ybear iniquity connected with the sanctuary, zand you and your sons with you shall bear iniquity connected with your priesthood. 2And with you bring your brothers also, the tribe of Levi, the tribe of your father, that they may aajoin you and abminister to you while you and your sons with you are before the tent of the testimony. 3They shall keep guard over you and acover the whole tent, adbut shall not come near to the vessels of the sanctuary or to the altar aelest they, and you, die. 4They shall join you and keep guard over the tent of meeting for all the service of the tent, afand no outsider shall come near you. 5And you shall agkeep guard over the sanctuary and over the altar, ahthat there may never again be wrath on the people of Israel.
