Exodus 29:37
37Seven days you shall make atonement for the altar and consecrate it, and the aaltar shall be most holy. bWhatever touches the altar shall become holy.Exodus 30:29

Fasting
16“And kwhen you fast, do not look gloomy like the hypocrites, for they disfigure their faces that their fasting may be seen by others. lTruly, I say to you, they have received their reward. 17But when you fast, manoint your head and wash your face, 18that your fasting may not be seen by others but by your Father who is in secret. nAnd your Father who sees in secret will reward you.
