The Burning Bush

1Now Moses was keeping the flock of his father-in-law, Jethro, the priest of Midian, and he led his flock to the west side of the wilderness and came to Horeb, the amountain of God.

Exodus 4:18

Moses Returns to Egypt

18Moses went back to bJethro his father-in-law and said to him, “Please let me go back to my brothers in Egypt to see whether they are still alive.” And Jethro said to Moses, “Go in peace.”

Exodus 18:1

Jethro’s Advice

1 cJethro, dthe priest of Midian, Mosesfather-in-law, heard of all that God had done for Moses and for Israel his people, how the Lord had brought Israel out of Egypt.

Exodus 18:7

7Moses ewent out to meet his father-in-law and bowed down and fkissed him. And they asked each other of their welfare and went into the tent.

Exodus 18:12

12And Jethro, Mosesfather-in-law, brought a burnt offering and sacrifices to God; and Aaron came with all the elders of Israel to eat bread with Mosesfather-in-law gbefore God.

Exodus 18:14-17

14When Mosesfather-in-law saw all that he was doing for the people, he said, “What is this that you are doing for the people? Why do you sit alone, and all the people stand around you from morning till evening?” 15And Moses said to his father-in-law, “Because hthe people come to me to inquire of God; 16 iwhen they have a dispute, they come to me and I decide between one person and another, and I jmake them know the statutes of God and his laws.” 17Mosesfather-in-law said to him, “What you are doing is not good.

Exodus 18:27

27Then Moses let his father-in-law depart, and khe went away to his own country.

Numbers 10:29

29And Moses said to Hobab the son of lReuel the Midianite, Mosesfather-in-law, “We are setting out for the place of which the Lord said, m‘I will give it to you.’ Come with us, and we will do good to you, for nthe Lord has promised good to Israel.”
