Exodus 3:7-8

7 Then the Lord said, ^a“I have surely seen the affliction of my people who are in Egypt and have heard their cry because of their ^btaskmasters. I know their sufferings, 8 and ^cI have come down to deliver them out of the hand of the Egyptians and ^dto bring them up out of that land to a ^egood and broad land, a land ^fflowing with milk and honey, to the place of ^gthe Canaanites, the Hittites, the Amorites, the Perizzites, the Hivites, and the Jebusites.

Exodus 19:5-6

5 Now therefore, if you will indeed obey my voice and keep my covenant, you shall be ^hmy treasured possession among all peoples, for ⁱall the earth is mine; 6 and you shall be to me a ^jkingdom of priests and ^ka holy nation'. These are the words that you shall speak to the people of Israel.”

Numbers 14:13-14

Moses Intercedes for the People

13 But ^lMoses said to the Lord, “Then the Egyptians will hear of it, for you brought up this people in your might from among them, 14 and they will tell the inhabitants of this land. ^mThey have heard that you, O Lord, are in the midst of this people. For you, O Lord, are seen face to face, and ⁿyour cloud stands over them and you go before them, in a pillar of cloud by day and in a pillar of fire by night.

Isaiah 63:7-14

The Lord’s Mercy Remembered

7 I will recount the steadfast love of the Lord,
the praises of the Lord,
according to all that the Lord has granted us,

that he has granted them according to his compassion,
according to the abundance of his steadfast love.
8 For he said, “Surely they are my people,
children who will not deal falsely.”
And he became their Savior.

Like a horse in the desert,
