Exodus 30:1-8

The Altar of Incense

1 a“You shall make ban altar on which to burn incense; you shall make it of acacia wood. 2A cubit
A  cubit was about 18 inches or 45 centimeters
shall be its length, and a cubit its breadth. It shall be square, and two cubits shall be its height. dIts horns shall be of one piece with it.
3You shall eoverlay it with pure gold, its top and around its sides and its horns. And you shall make a molding of gold around it. 4And you shall make two golden rings for it. Under its molding on two opposite sides of it you shall make them, and they shall be fholders for poles with which to carry it. 5You shall make the poles of acacia wood and overlay them with gold. 6And you shall put it in front of the veil that is above the ark of the testimony, in front of the gmercy seat that is above the testimony, where I will meet with you. 7And Aaron shall hburn fragrant incense on it. Every morning when he idresses the lamps he shall burn it, 8and when Aaron sets up the lamps at twilight, he shall burn it, a regular incense offering before the Lord throughout your generations.

2 Chronicles 26:16-20

Uzziah’s Pride and Punishment

16But when jhe was strong, khe grew proud, to his destruction. For he was unfaithful to the Lord his God and entered the temple of the Lord to burn incense on the altar of incense. 17But lAzariah the priest went in after him, with eighty priests of the Lord who were men of valor, 18and they withstood King Uzziah and said to him, m“It is not for you, Uzziah, to burn incense to the Lord, nbut for the priests, the sons of Aaron, who are consecrated to burn incense. Go out of the sanctuary, for you have done wrong, and it will bring you no honor from the Lord God.” 19Then Uzziah was angry. Now he had a censer in his hand to burn incense, and when he became angry with the priests, oleprosy

broke out on his forehead in the presence of the priests in the house of the Lord, by the altar of incense.
20And Azariah the chief priest and all the priests looked at him, and behold, he was leprous in his forehead! And they rushed him out quickly, and he himself hurried to go out, because the Lord had struck him.
