Numbers 26:2-4

Take a census of the people is implied (compare verse 2)
from twenty years old and upward,” as the Lord icommanded Moses. The people of Israel who came out of the land of Egypt were:

Numbers 26:63-64

63These were those listed by Moses and Eleazar the priest, who listed the people of Israel jin the plains of Moab by the Jordan at Jericho. 64 kBut among these there was not one of those listed by Moses and Aaron the priest, who had listed the people of Israel in the wilderness of Sinai.

David’s Census Brings Pestilence

1 rThen sSatan stood against Israel and incited David to number Israel. 2So David said to Joab and the commanders of the army, “Go, number Israel, from Beersheba to Dan, and bring me a report, that I may know their number.”

1 Chronicles 27:23-24

23David did not count those below twenty years of age, for the tLord had promised to make Israel as many as the stars of heaven. 24Joab the son of Zeruiah began to count, but udid not finish. Yet vwrath came upon Israel for this, and the number was not entered in the chronicles of King David.
