Exodus 38:26

26 a ^cbeka ^{▼▼A beka was about 1/5 ounce or 5.5 grams} a head (that is, half a shekel, by the shekel of the sanctuary), for everyone who was listed in the records, from twenty years old and upward, for ^e603,550 men.

Numbers 26:2-4

2 ^f“Take a census of all the congregation of the people of Israel, from twenty years old and upward, by their fathers’ houses, all in Israel who are able to go to war.” 3 And Moses and Eleazar the priest spoke with them ^gin the plains of Moab by the Jordan at Jericho, saying, 4 “Take a census of the people, ^{▼▼Take a census of the people is implied (compare verse 2)} from twenty years old and upward,” as the Lord ⁱcommanded Moses. Numbers 26:63-64

63 These were those listed by Moses and Eleazar the priest, who listed the people of Israel ^jin the plains of Moab by the Jordan at Jericho. 64 ^kBut among these there was not one of those listed by Moses and Aaron the priest, who had listed the people of Israel in the wilderness of Sinai.

David’s Census Brings Pestilence

1 ^rThen ^sSatan stood against Israel and incited David to number Israel. 2 So David said to Joab and the commanders of the army, “Go, number Israel, from Beersheba to Dan, and bring me a report, that I may know their number.”

1 Chronicles 27:23-24

23 David did not count those below twenty years of age, for the ^tLord had promised to make Israel as many as the stars of heaven. 24 Joab the son of Zeruiah began to count, but ^udid not finish. Yet ^vwrath came upon Israel for this, and the number was not entered in the chronicles of King David.
