Exodus 32:2-4

2So Aaron said to them, “Take off the arings of gold that are in the ears of your wives, your sons, and your daughters, and bring them to me.” 3So all the people took off the rings of gold that were in their ears and brought them to Aaron. 4 bAnd he received the gold from their hand and fashioned it with a graving tool and made a golden

calf. And they said, dThese are your gods, O Israel, who brought you up out of the land of Egypt!”

Judges 17:3-4

3And he restored the 1,100 pieces of silver to his mother. And his mother said, “I dedicate the silver to the Lord from my hand for my son, to make ea carved image and fa metal image. Now therefore I will restore it to you.” 4So when he restored the money to his mother, his mother gtook 200 pieces of silver and gave it to the silversmith, who made it into a carved image and a metal image. And it was in the house of Micah.

Isaiah 40:19-20

19 hAn idol! A craftsman casts it,
and a goldsmith overlays it with gold
and casts for it silver chains.
20 iHe who is too impoverished for an offering
chooses wood
Or  He chooses valuable wood
that will not rot;
he seeks out a skillful craftsman
to set up an idol that will not move.

Isaiah 41:6-7

6Everyone helps his neighbor
and says to his brother, “Be strong!”
7 kThe craftsman strengthens the goldsmith,
and he who smooths with the hammer him who strikes the anvil,
saying of the soldering, “It is good”;
and they strengthen it with nails lso that it cannot be moved.

Isaiah 44:12-19

12 mThe ironsmith takes a cutting tool and works it over the coals. He fashions it with hammers and works it with his strong arm. He becomes hungry, and his strength fails; he drinks no water and is faint. 13The carpenter stretches a line; he marks it out with a pencil. He shapes it with planes and marks it with a compass. nHe shapes it into the figure of a man, with the beauty of a man, to dwell in a house. 14 oHe cuts down cedars, or he chooses a cypress tree or an oak and lets it grow strong among the trees of the forest. He plants a cedar and the rain nourishes it. 15Then it becomes fuel for a man. He takes a part of it and warms himself; he kindles a fire and bakes bread. Also he makes a god and worships it; he makes it an idol and falls down before it. 16Half of it he burns in the fire. Over the half he eats meat; he roasts it and is satisfied. Also he warms himself and says, “Aha, I am warm, I have seen the fire!” 17And the rest of it he makes into a god, his idol, and falls down to it and worships it. pHe prays to it and says, “Deliver me, for you are my god!”

18They know not, nor do they discern, for he has shut their eyes, so that they cannot see, and their hearts, so that they cannot understand. 19No one considers, nor is there knowledge or discernment to say, “Half of it I burned in the fire; I also baked bread on its coals; I roasted meat and have eaten. And shall I make the rest of it an qabomination? Shall I fall down before a block of wood?”

Isaiah 45:20

20 r“Assemble yourselves and come;
draw near together,
you survivors of the nations!
sThey have no knowledge
who tcarry about their wooden idols,
uand keep on praying to a god
that cannot save.
