Ezra Prays About Intermarriage

1After these things had been done, the officials approached me and said, “The people of Israel and the priests and the oLevites have not separated themselves from the peoples of the lands pwith their abominations, from the qCanaanites, the Hittites, the Perizzites, the Jebusites, the Ammonites, the Moabites, the Egyptians, and the Amorites. 2 rFor they have taken some of their daughters to be wives for themselves and for their sons, so that the sholy race
Hebrew offspring
has umixed itself with the peoples of the lands. And in this faithlessness the hand of the officials and chief men has been foremost.”

Ezra 9:11-12

11which you commanded by your servants the prophets, saying, ‘The land that you are entering, to take possession of it, is a land impure with the impurity of the peoples of the lands, with their abominations that have filled it from end to end with vtheir uncleanness. 12 wTherefore do not give your daughters to their sons, neither take their daughters for your sons, and never seek their peace or prosperity, that you may be strong and eat the good of the land xand leave it for an inheritance to your children forever.’

Nehemiah 13:23-26

23In those days also I saw the Jews ywho had married women zof Ashdod, aaAmmon, and abMoab. 24And half of their children spoke the language of Ashdod, and they could not speak the language of Judah, but only the language of each people. 25 acAnd I confronted them and cursed them and beat some of them and pulled out their hair. adAnd I made them take an oath in the name of God, saying, “You shall not give your daughters to their sons, or take their daughters for your sons or for yourselves. 26 aeDid not Solomon king of Israel sin on account of such women? afAmong the many nations there was no king like him, and he was agbeloved by his God, and God made him king over all Israel. Nevertheless, foreign women made even him to sin.
