1 Kings 11:1-5

Solomon Turns from the Lord

1Now fKing Solomon loved many foreign women, along with the daughter of Pharaoh: Moabite, Ammonite, Edomite, Sidonian, and Hittite women, 2from the nations concerning which the Lord had said to the people of Israel, g“You shall not enter into marriage with them, neither shall they with you, for surely they will turn away your heart after their gods.” Solomon clung to these in love. 3He had 700 wives, who were princesses, and 300 concubines. And his wives turned away his heart. 4For when Solomon was old his wives turned away his heart after other gods, and hhis heart was not wholly true to the Lord his God, ias was the heart of David his father. 5For Solomon went after jAshtoreth the goddess of the Sidonians, and after kMilcom the abomination of the Ammonites.

Nehemiah 13:23-27

23In those days also I saw the Jews owho had married women pof Ashdod, qAmmon, and rMoab. 24And half of their children spoke the language of Ashdod, and they could not speak the language of Judah, but only the language of each people. 25 sAnd I confronted them and cursed them and beat some of them and pulled out their hair. tAnd I made them take an oath in the name of God, saying, “You shall not give your daughters to their sons, or take their daughters for your sons or for yourselves. 26 uDid not Solomon king of Israel sin on account of such women? vAmong the many nations there was no king like him, and he was wbeloved by his God, and God made him king over all Israel. Nevertheless, foreign women made even him to sin. 27Shall we then listen to you and do all this great evil and xact treacherously against our God by marrying foreign women?”

Ezekiel 16:3
