Exodus 34:6-7

6 The Lord passed before him and proclaimed, ^a“The Lord, the Lord, a God merciful and ^bgracious, slow to anger, and abounding in steadfast ^clove and faithfulness, 7 ^dkeeping steadfast love for thousands, ^{▼▼Or to the thousandth generation} ^fforgiving iniquity and transgression and sin, but ^gwho will by no means clear the guilty, ^hvisiting the iniquity of the fathers on the children and the children’s children, to the third and the fourth generation.”

Luke 5:20-21

20 And ⁱwhen he saw their faith, he said, “Man, ^jyour sins are forgiven you.” 21 And the scribes and the Pharisees began to question, saying, “Who is this who speaks ^kblasphemies? ^lWho can forgive sins but God alone?”
