Ezekiel 12:12-16

12 aAnd the prince who is among them shall lift his baggage upon his shoulder at dusk, and shall go out. bThey shall dig through the wall to bring him out through it. cHe shall cover his face, that he may not see the land with his eyes. 13 dAnd I will spread my net over him, and he shall be taken in my snare. And eI will bring him to Babylon, the land of the Chaldeans, fyet he shall not see it, and he shall die there. 14 gAnd I will scatter toward every wind all who are around him, his helpers and all his troops, hand I will unsheathe the sword after them. 15 iAnd they shall know that I am the Lord, when I disperse them among the nations and scatter them among the countries. 16 jBut I will let a few of them escape from the sword, from famine and pestilence, that they may declare all their abominations among the nations where they go, kand may know that I am the Lord.”

Ezekiel 17:11-21

11Then the word of the Lord came to me: 12Say now to lthe rebellious house, mDo you not know what these things mean? Tell them, behold, nthe king of Babylon came to Jerusalem, and took her king and her princes and brought them to him to Babylon. 13 oAnd he took one of the royal offspring

14that the kingdom might be humble and not lift itself up, and keep his covenant that it might stand. 15 tBut he rebelled against him by sending his ambassadors uto Egypt, that they might give him horses and a large army. vWill he thrive? Can one escape who does such things? Can he wbreak the covenant and yet escape?

16 x“As I live, declares the Lord God, surely yin the place where the king dwells zwho made him king, whose oath he despised, and whose covenant with him he broke, in Babylon he shall die. 17 aaPharaoh with his mighty army and great company will not help him in war, abwhen mounds are cast up and siege walls built to cut off many lives. 18He despised the oath in breaking the covenant, and behold, he gave his hand and did all these things; he shall not escape. 19Therefore thus says the Lord God: As I live, surely it is my oath that he despised, and my covenant that he broke. I will return it upon his head. 20 acI will spread my net over him, and he shall be taken in my snare, and I will bring him to Babylon adand enter into judgment with him there aefor the treachery he has committed against me. 21And all the pick
