38Let it be known to you therefore, brothers, nthat through this man oforgiveness of sins is proclaimed to you, 39and by him peveryone who believes is freed
Greek justified; twice in this verse
from everything rfrom which you could not be freed by the law of Moses.
40Beware, therefore, lest what is said in the Prophets should come about:

41 s“‘Look, you scoffers,
be astounded and perish;
for I am doing a work in your days,
a work that you will not believe, even if one tells it to you.’”

Acts 28:23-28

23When they had appointed a day for him, they came to him at his lodging in greater numbers. From morning till evening the expounded to them, testifying to uthe kingdom of God and vtrying to convince them about Jesus wboth from the Law of Moses and from the Prophets. 24And xsome were convinced by what he said, but others disbelieved. 25And disagreeing among themselves, they departed after Paul had made one statement: yThe Holy Spirit was right in saying to your fathers through Isaiah the prophet:

26 z“‘Go to this people, and say,
aa“You will indeed hear but never understand,
and you will indeed see but never perceive.”
27 abFor this people’s heart has grown dull,
and with their ears they can barely hear,
and their eyes they have closed;
lest they should see with their eyes
and hear with their ears
and understand with their heart
and acturn, and I would heal them.’
28Therefore let it be known to you that adthis aesalvation of God afhas been sent to the Gentiles; agthey will listen.”
Some manuscripts add verse 29: And when he had said these words, the Jews departed, having much dispute among themselves
