They shall eat your fruit, and they shall drink your milk. 5I will make hRabbah a ipasture for camels and Ammon
Hebrew  and the Ammonites
ka fold for flocks. lThen you will know that I am the Lord.
6For thus says the Lord God: Because myou have clapped your hands nand stamped your feet and orejoiced with all the pmalice within your soul against the land of Israel, 7therefore, behold, qI have stretched out my hand against you, and rwill hand you over as plunder to the nations. And I will cut you off from the peoples and will make you perish out of the countries; I will destroy you. Then you will know that I am the Lord.

Prophecy Against Moab and Seir

8Thus says the Lord God: Because sMoab and tSeir
Septuagint lacks  and Seir
said, ‘Behold, the vhouse of Judah is like all the other nations,’

And I will make it desolate; from aiTeman even to ajDedan they shall fall by the sword. 14And I will lay my vengeance upon Edom akby the hand of my people Israel, and they shall do in Edom according to my anger and according to my wrath, and althey shall know my vengeance, declares the Lord God.

Ezekiel 26

Prophecy Against Tyre

1 atIn the eleventh year, on the first day of the month, the word of the Lord came to me: 2 auSon of man, because avTyre said concerning Jerusalem, awAha, the gate of the peoples is broken; it has swung open to me. I shall be replenished, now that she is laid waste,’ 3therefore thus says the Lord God: axBehold, I am against you, O Tyre, and will bring up aymany nations against you, azas the sea brings up its waves. 4They shall destroy the walls of Tyre and break down her towers, and I will scrape her soil from her and bamake her a bare rock. 5She bbshall be in the midst of the sea a place for the spreading of nets, bcfor I have spoken, declares the Lord God. And she shall become plunder for the nations, 6and her daughters on the mainland shall be killed by the sword. bdThen they will know that I am the Lord.

7For thus says the Lord God: beBehold, I will bring against Tyre bffrom the north Nebuchadnezzar
Hebrew Nebuchadrezzar; so throughout Ezekiel
king of Babylon, bhking of kings, with horses and chariots, and with horsemen and a host of many soldiers.
8He will kill with the sword biyour daughters on the mainland. bjHe will set up a siege wall against you and throw up a mound against you, and raise bka roof of shields against you. 9 blHe will direct the shock of his battering rams against your walls, and with his axes he will break down your towers. 10His horses will be so many that their dust will cover you. Your walls will shake at the noise of the horsemen and wagons and chariots, when he enters your gates as men enter a city that has been breached. 11With the hoofs of his horses he will trample all your streets. He will kill your people with the sword, and your mighty pillars will fall to the ground. 12They will plunder bmyour riches and loot bnyour merchandise. They will break down your walls and destroy your pleasant houses. Your stones and timber and bosoil they will cast into the midst of the waters. 13 bpAnd I will stop the music of your songs, and bqthe sound of your lyres shall be heard no more. 14 brI will make you a bare rock. bsYou shall be a place for the spreading of nets. You shall never be rebuilt, btfor I am the Lord; I have spoken, declares the Lord God.

15Thus says the Lord God to Tyre: Will not buthe coastlands shake at the sound of your fall, bvwhen the wounded groan, when slaughter is made in your midst? 16Then all bwthe princes of the sea will step down from their thrones and bxremove their robes and strip off their embroidered garments. They will clothe themselves with trembling; bythey will sit on the ground and bztremble every moment and cabe appalled at you. 17And they will cbraise a lamentation over you and say to you,

“‘How you have perished,
you who were inhabited from the seas,
O city renowned,
ccwho was mighty on the sea;
she and her inhabitants cdimposed their terror
on all her inhabitants!
18Now the coastlands tremble
on the day of your fall,
and the coastlands that are on the sea
are dismayed at your passing.’
19For thus says the Lord God: When I make you a city laid waste, like the cities that are not inhabited, cewhen I bring up the deep over you, and the great waters cover you, 20then cfI will make you go down with those who go down to the pit, to the people of old, and I will make you to dwell in the world below, among ruins from of old, cgwith those who go down to the pit, so that you will not be inhabited; but I will set beauty chin the land of the living. 21I will bring you cito a dreadful end, and you shall be no more. cjThough you be sought for, you will never be found again, declares the Lord God.”

Ezekiel 27

A Lament for Tyre

1The word of the Lord came to me: 2“Now you, ckson of man, clraise a lamentation over Tyre, 3and say to Tyre, who dwells at cmthe entrances to the sea, cnmerchant of the peoples to many coastlands, thus says the Lord God:

“O Tyre, you have said,
I am coperfect in beauty.’
4Your borders are cpin the heart of the seas;
your builders made perfect your beauty.
5They made all your planks
of fir trees from cqSenir;
they took cra cedar from Lebanon
to make a mast for you.
6Of csoaks of Bashan
they made your oars;
they made your deck of pines
from ctthe coasts of Cyprus,
inlaid with ivory.
7 cuOf fine embroidered linen from Egypt
was your sail,
serving as your banner;
blue and purple from cvthe coasts of Elishah
was your awning.
8The inhabitants of Sidon and cwArvad
were your rowers;
your skilled men, O Tyre, were in you;
they were cxyour pilots.
9The elders of cyGebal and her skilled men were in you,
czcaulking your seams;
all the ships of the sea with their mariners were in you
to barter for your wares.
10 daPersia and dbLud and dcPut were in your army as your men of war. ddThey hung the shield and helmet in you; they gave you splendor. 11Men of deArvad and Helech were on your walls all around, and men of Gamad were in your towers. They hung their shields on your walls all around; they made dfperfect your beauty.

12 dgTarshish did dhbusiness with you because of your great wealth of every kind; silver, iron, tin, and lead they exchanged for your diwares. 13 djJavan, dkTubal, and dlMeshech traded with you; they exchanged human beings and vessels of bronze for your merchandise. 14From dmBeth-togarmah they exchanged horses, war horses, and mules dnfor your wares. 15The men of doDedan
Hebrew; Septuagint Rhodes
traded with you. Many coastlands were your own special markets; they brought you in payment ivory tusks and ebony.
16Syria dqdid business with you because of your abundant goods; they exchanged for your wares dremeralds, dspurple, dtembroidered work, dufine linen, coral, and dvruby. 17Judah and the land of Israel traded with you; they exchanged for your merchandise dwwheat of dxMinnith, meal,
The meaning of the Hebrew word is unknown
honey, oil, and dzbalm.
18 eaDamascus did business with you for your abundant goods, because of your great wealth of every kind; wine of Helbon and ebwool of Sahar 19and casks of wine
Probable reading; Hebrew  wool of Sahar, Vedan, and Javan
from Uzal they exchanged for your wares; wrought iron, edcassia, and eecalamus were bartered for your merchandise.
20Dedan traded with you in saddlecloths for riding. 21Arabia and all the princes of efKedar were your favored dealers egin lambs, rams, and goats; in these they did business with you. 22The traders of ehSheba and eiRaamah traded with you; they exchanged ejfor your wares ekthe best of all kinds of spices and all precious stones and gold. 23 elHaran, Canneh, emEden, traders of Sheba, enAsshur, and Chilmad traded with you. 24In your market these traded with you in choice garments, in clothes of eoblue and epembroidered work, and in carpets of colored material, bound with cords and made secure. 25 eqThe ships of erTarshish traveled for you with your merchandise. So you were filled and heavily laden esin the heart of the seas.

26 “Your rowers have brought you out
into the high seas.
etThe east wind has wrecked you
in the heart of the seas.
27Your riches, your wares, your merchandise,
your mariners and euyour pilots,
evyour caulkers, your dealers in merchandise,
and all your men of war who are in you,
with all your crew
that is in your midst,
sink into the heart of the seas
ewon the day of your fall.
28At the sound of the cry of your pilots
exthe countryside shakes,
29and down from their ships
eycome all who handle the oar.
The mariners and all the pilots of the sea
stand on the land
30 ezand shout aloud over you
and cry out bitterly.
faThey cast dust on their heads
fband wallow in ashes;
31they fcmake themselves bald for you
and put sackcloth on their waist,
and they weep over you in bitterness of soul,
with bitter mourning.
32In their wailing they fdraise a lamentation for you
and lament over you:
feWho is like Tyre,
like one destroyed in the midst of the sea?
33When your wares came from the seas,
ffyou satisfied many peoples;
with your abundant wealth and merchandise
fgyou enriched the kings of the earth.
34Now fhyou are wrecked by the seas,
in the depths of the waters;
your merchandise and all your crew in your midst
have sunk with you.
35 fiAll the inhabitants of the coastlands
are appalled at you,
and fjthe hair of their kings bristles with horror;
their faces are convulsed.
36 fkThe merchants among the peoples flhiss at you;
fmyou have come to a dreadful end
and shall be no more forever.’”

Ezekiel 28

Prophecy Against the Prince of Tyre

1The word of the Lord came to me: 2 fnSon of man, say to fothe prince of Tyre, Thus says the Lord God:

fp“Because your heart is proud,
and fqyou have said, ‘I am a god,
I sit in the seat of the gods,
in the heart of the seas,’
yet fryou are but a man, and no god,
fsthough you make your heart like the heart of a god
3 ftyou are indeed wiser futhan fvDaniel;
no secret is hidden from you;
4by your wisdom and your understanding
fwyou have made wealth for yourself,
and have gathered gold and silver
into your treasuries;
5by your great wisdom in your trade
you have increased your wealth,
and fxyour heart has become proud in your wealth
6therefore thus says the Lord God:
fyBecause you make your heart
like the heart of a god,
7therefore, behold, I will bring fzforeigners upon you,
the most ruthless of the nations;
and they shall draw their swords against gathe beauty of your wisdom
and defile gbyour splendor.
8 gcThey shall thrust you down into the pit,
gdand you shall die the death of the slain
in the heart of the seas.
9 geWill you still say, ‘I am a god,’
in the presence of those who kill you,
though gfyou are but a man, and no god,
in the hands of those who slay you?
10 ggYou shall die the death of the uncircumcised
by the hand of foreigners;
ghfor I have spoken, declares the Lord God.”

A Lament over the King of Tyre

11Moreover, the word of the Lord came to me: 12 giSon of man, gjraise a lamentation over gkthe king of Tyre, and say to him, Thus says the Lord God:

“You were the signet of perfection,
The meaning of the Hebrew phrase is uncertain

gmfull of wisdom and gnperfect in beauty.
13You were in goEden, the garden of God;
gpevery precious stone was your covering,
gqsardius, topaz, and diamond,
beryl, onyx, and jasper,
sapphire,
Or lapis lazuli
gsemerald, and carbuncle;
and crafted in gold were your settings
and your engravings.
The meaning of the Hebrew phrase is uncertain

guOn the day that you were created
they were prepared.
14You were an anointed gvguardian cherub.
I placed you;
The meaning of the Hebrew phrase is uncertain
you were on gxthe holy mountain of God;
in the midst of the stones of fire you walked.
15You were blameless in your ways
gyfrom the day you were created,
till unrighteousness was found in you.
16In the abundance of gzyour trade
you were filled with violence in your midst, and you sinned;
so I cast you as a profane thing from hathe mountain of God,
and I destroyed you,
Or banished you
hcO guardian cherub,
from the midst of the stones of fire.
17 hdYour heart was proud because of heyour beauty;
you corrupted your wisdom for the sake of your splendor.
I cast you to the ground;
I exposed you before kings,
to feast their eyes on you.
18By the multitude of your iniquities,
in the unrighteousness of your trade
you profaned your sanctuaries;
so hfI brought fire out from your midst;
it consumed you,
and I turned you to ashes on the earth
hgin the sight of all who saw you.
19All who know you among the peoples
are appalled at you;
hhyou have come to a dreadful end
and shall be no more forever.”

Prophecy Against Sidon

20The word of the Lord came to me: 21 hiSon of man, hjset your face toward hkSidon, and hlprophesy against her 22and say, Thus says the Lord God:

Behold, hmI am against you, O Sidon,
and hnI will manifest my glory in your midst.
And hothey shall know that I am the Lord
hpwhen I execute judgments in her
and hqmanifest my holiness in her;
23for I will send hrpestilence into her,
and blood into her streets;
and the slain shall fall in her midst,
by the sword that is against her on every side.
Then they will know that I am the Lord.
24“And for the house of Israel hsthere shall be no more a brier to prick or hta thorn to hurt them among all their neighbors huwho have treated them with contempt. Then they will know that I am the Lord God.

Israel Gathered in Security

25Thus says the Lord God: hvWhen I gather the house of Israel from the peoples among whom they are scattered, and hwmanifest my holiness in them in the sight of the nations, hxthen they shall dwell in their own land that I gave to my servant Jacob. 26 hyAnd they shall dwell securely in it, and they shall build houses and plant vineyards. They shall dwell securely, hzwhen I execute judgments upon all their neighbors iawho have treated them with contempt. ibThen they will know that I am the Lord their God.”

Ezekiel 29

Prophecy Against Egypt

1 icIn the tenth year, in the tenth month, on the twelfth day of the month, the word of the Lord came to me: 2 idSon of man, ieset your face against ifPharaoh king of Egypt, igand prophesy against him and ihagainst all Egypt; 3speak, and say, Thus says the Lord God:

iiBehold, I am against you,
Pharaoh king of Egypt,
ijthe great dragon that lies
in the midst of his streams,
ikthat says, ‘My Nile is my own;
I made it for myself.’
4I will ilput hooks in your jaws,
and make the fish of your streams stick to your scales;
and I will draw you up out of the midst of your streams,
with all the fish of your streams
that stick to your scales.
5 imAnd I will cast you out into the wilderness,
you and all the fish of your streams;
you shall fall inon the open field,
and ionot be brought together or gathered.
To the beasts of the earth and to the birds of the heavens
ipI give you as food.
6Then all the inhabitants of Egypt iqshall know that I am the Lord.

Because you
Hebrew they
have been isa staff of reed to the house of Israel,
7 itwhen they grasped you with the hand, you broke and tore all their shoulders; and when they leaned on you, you broke and made all their loins to shake.
Syriac (compare Psalm 69:23); Hebrew to stand
8Therefore thus says the Lord God: ivBehold, I will bring a sword upon you, and will cut off from you man and beast, 9and the land of Egypt shall be a desolation and a waste. iwThen they will know that I am the Lord.

ixBecause you
Hebrew he
said, ‘The Nile is mine, and I made it,’
10therefore, izbehold, I am against you and jaagainst your streams, and jbI will make the land of Egypt an utter waste and desolation, jcfrom Migdol to Syene, as far as the border of Cush. 11 jdNo foot of man shall pass through it, and no foot of beast shall pass through it; it shall be uninhabited forty years. 12 jeAnd I will make the land of Egypt a desolation in the midst of desolated countries, and her cities shall be a desolation forty years among cities that are laid waste. jfI will scatter the Egyptians among the nations, and disperse them through the countries.

13“For thus says the Lord God: At the end of forty years jgI will gather the Egyptians from the peoples among whom they were scattered, 14and jhI will restore the fortunes of Egypt and bring them back to jithe land of Pathros, the land of their origin, and there they shall be a lowly kingdom. 15It shall be the most lowly of the kingdoms, jjand never again exalt itself above the nations. And I will make them so small that they will never again rule over the nations. 16And it shall never again be jkthe reliance of the house of Israel, recalling their iniquity, when they turn to them for aid. jlThen they will know that I am the Lord God.”

17 jmIn the twenty-seventh year, in the first month, on the first day of the month, the word of the Lord came to me: 18 jnSon of man, joNebuchadnezzar king of Babylon made his army labor hard against Tyre. Every head was made bald, and every shoulder was rubbed bare, yet neither he nor his army got anything from Tyre to pay for the labor that he had performed against her. 19Therefore thus says the Lord God: jpBehold, I will give the land of Egypt to Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon; jqand he shall carry off its wealth
Or multitude
jsand despoil it and plunder it; and it shall be the wages for his army.
20 jtI have given him the land of Egypt as his payment for which he labored, because they worked for me, declares the Lord God.

21“On that day juI will cause a horn to spring up for the house of Israel, and jvI will open your lips among them. jwThen they will know that I am the Lord.”

Ezekiel 30

A Lament for Egypt

1The word of the Lord came to me: 2 jxSon of man, prophesy, and say, Thus says the Lord God:

jyWail, ‘Alas for the day!’
3 jzFor the day is near,
kathe day of the Lord is near;
it will be kba day of clouds,
a time of doom for
Hebrew lacks  doom for
the nations.
4 kdA sword shall come upon Egypt,
keand anguish shall be in kfCush,
when the slain fall in Egypt,

and kiher foundations are torn down.
5 kjCush, and kkPut, and Lud, and klall Arabia, and Libya,
With Septuagint; Hebrew Cub
and the people of the land that is in league,
Hebrew  and the sons of the land of the covenant
shall fall with them by the sword.

6 Thus says the Lord:
koThose who support Egypt shall fall,
and kpher proud might shall come down;
kqfrom Migdol to Syene
they shall fall within her by the sword,
declares the Lord God.
7 krAnd they shall be desolated in the midst of desolated countries,
and their cities shall be in the midst of cities that are laid waste.
8 ksThen they will know that I am the Lord,
when ktI have set fire to Egypt,
and kuall her helpers are broken.
9“On that day kvmessengers shall go out from me in ships to terrify the unsuspecting kwpeople of Cush, and kxanguish shall come upon them on the day of Egypt’s doom;
Hebrew  the day of Egypt
for, behold, it comes!

10Thus says the Lord God:

kz“I will put an end to the wealth of Egypt,
by the hand of Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon.
11He and his people with him, lathe most ruthless of nations,
shall be brought in to destroy the land,
lband they shall draw their swords against Egypt
and fill the land with the slain.
12And lcI will lddry up the Nile
and will sell the land into the hand of leevildoers;
lfI will bring desolation upon the land and everything in it,
by the hand of lgforeigners;
lhI am the Lord; I have spoken.
13Thus says the Lord God:

li“I will destroy the idols
and put an end to the images in ljMemphis;
lkthere shall no longer be a prince from the land of Egypt;
so llI will put fear in the land of Egypt.
14I will make lmPathros a desolation
and will set fire to lnZoan
loand will execute judgments on lpThebes.
15And I will pour out my wrath on Pelusium,
the stronghold of Egypt,
and cut off the multitude
Or wealth
of Thebes.
16And I will set fire to Egypt;
Pelusium shall be in great agony;
Thebes shall be breached,
and lrMemphis shall face enemies
Or distress
by day.
17The young men of On and of Pi-beseth shall fall by the sword,
and the women
Or  the cities; Hebrew they
shall go into captivity.
18At luTehaphnehes lvthe day shall be dark,
when I break there the yoke bars of Egypt,
and lwher proud might shall come to an end in her;
she shall be covered by a cloud,
and her daughters shall go into captivity.
19Thus lxI will execute judgments on Egypt.
lyThen they will know that I am the Lord.”

Egypt Shall Fall to Babylon

20 lzIn the eleventh year, in the first month, on the seventh day of the month, the word of the Lord came to me: 21 maSon of man, mbI have broken the arm of Pharaoh king of Egypt, and behold, mcit has not been bound up, to heal it by binding it with a bandage, so that it may become strong to wield the sword. 22Therefore thus says the Lord God: Behold, I am against Pharaoh king of Egypt and mdwill break his arms, both the strong arm and the one that was broken, and I will make the sword fall from his hand. 23 meI will scatter the Egyptians among the nations and disperse them through the countries. 24And mfI will strengthen the arms of the king of Babylon and put mgmy sword in his hand, but I will break the arms of Pharaoh, and he will groan before him mhlike a man mortally wounded. 25I will strengthen the arms of the king of Babylon, but the arms of Pharaoh shall fall. miThen they shall know that I am the Lord, mjwhen I put my sword into the hand of the king of Babylon and he stretches it out against the land of Egypt. 26And I will scatter the Egyptians among the nations and disperse them throughout the countries. Then they will know that I am the Lord.”
