17 ^a“Son of man, ^bI have made you a watchman for the house of Israel. Whenever you hear a word from my mouth, you shall ^cgive them warning from me. 18 ^dIf I say to the wicked, ^e‘You shall surely die,’ ^fand you give him no warning, nor speak to warn the wicked from his wicked way, in order to save his life, that wicked person ^gshall die for ^{▼▼Or in; also verses 19, 20} his iniquity, ⁱbut his blood I will require at your hand. 19 ^jBut if you warn the wicked, and he does not turn from his wickedness, or from his wicked way, he shall die for his iniquity, ^kbut you ^lwill have delivered your soul. 20 ^mAgain, if a righteous person turns from his righteousness and commits injustice, ⁿand I lay a stumbling block before him, he shall die. ^oBecause you have not warned him, he shall die for his sin, ^pand his righteous deeds that he has done shall not be remembered, ^qbut his blood I will require at your hand. 21 But if you warn the righteous person not to sin, and he does not sin, he shall surely live, because he took warning, and you will have delivered your soul.”

Ezekiel 33:2-9

2 ^r“Son of man, speak to ^syour people and say to them, If ^tI bring the sword upon a land, and the people of the land take a man from among them, and make him their ^uwatchman, 3 and if he sees the sword coming upon the land and ^vblows the trumpet and warns the people, 4 then if anyone who hears the sound of the trumpet does not take warning, and the sword comes and takes him away, ^whis blood shall be upon his own head. 5 ^xHe heard the sound of the trumpet and did not take warning; his blood shall be upon himself. But if he had taken warning, he would have saved his life. 6 ^yBut if the watchman sees the sword coming and does not blow the trumpet, so that the people are not warned, and the sword comes and takes any one of them, ^zthat person is taken away in his iniquity, but his blood I will require at the watchman’s hand.

7 ^aa“So you, ^abson of man, I have made a watchman for the house of Israel. ^acWhenever you hear a word from my mouth, you shall give them warning from me. 8 ^adIf I say to the wicked, O wicked one, you shall surely die, ^aeand you do not speak to warn the wicked to turn from his way, ^afthat wicked person shall die in his iniquity, but his blood I will require at your hand. 9 ^agBut if you warn the wicked to turn from his way, and he does not turn from his way, ^ahthat person shall die in his iniquity, ^aibut you will have delivered your soul.

Matthew 24:45-47

45 “Who then is ^ajthe faithful and ^akwise servant, ^{▼▼Greek bondservant; also verses 46, 48, 50} whom his master has set over his household, to give them their food at the proper time? 46 ^amBlessed is that servant whom his master will find so doing when he comes. 47 Truly, I say to you, ^anhe will set him over all his possessions.

Luke 12:36-40

36 and be like men who are ^aowaiting for their master to come home from the wedding feast, so that they may open the door to him at once when he comes and ^apknocks. 37 ^aqBlessed are those servants ^{▼▼Greek bondservants} whom the master finds ^asawake when he comes. Truly, I say to you, ^athe will dress himself for service and ^auhave them recline at table, and he will come and serve them. 38 If he comes in the second watch, or in the third, and finds them awake, blessed are those servants! 39 ^avBut know this, that if the master of the house had known at what hour ^awthe thief was coming, he ^{▼▼Some manuscripts add would have stayed awake and} would not have left his house to be broken into. 40 You also must be ^ayready, for ^azthe Son of Man is coming at an hour you do not expect.”

Acts 20:29-31

29 I ^baknow that after my departure ^bbfierce wolves will come in among you, ^bcnot sparing the flock; 30 and ^bdfrom among your own selves will arise men speaking twisted things, to draw away the disciples after them. 31 Therefore ^bebe alert, remembering that ^bffor three years I did not cease night or day ^bgto admonish every one ^bhwith tears.
