Ezekiel 7:23-27

23 ^a“Forge a chain! ^{▼▼Probably refers to an instrument of captivity} ^cFor the land is full of bloody crimes ^dand the city is full of violence. 24 I will bring ^ethe worst of the nations to take possession of their houses. ^fI will put an end to the pride of the strong, ^gand their holy places ^{▼▼By revocalization (compare Septuagint); Hebrew and those who sanctify them} shall be profaned. 25 ⁱWhen anguish comes, ^jthey will seek peace, but there shall be none. 26 ^kDisaster comes upon disaster; ^lrumor follows rumor. ^mThey seek a vision from the prophet, while ⁿthe law ^{▼▼Or instruction} perishes from the priest and ^pcounsel from the elders. 27 The king mourns, the prince is wrapped in despair, and the hands of the people of the land are paralyzed by terror. According to their way ^qI will do to them, and according to their judgments I will judge them, ^rand they shall know that I am the Lord.”
