And hbegin at my sanctuary.” So they began with the elders who were before the house.

10As for me, imy eye will not spare, nor will I have pity; jI will bring their deeds upon their heads.”

Habakkuk 1:6-10

6For behold, kI am raising up the Chaldeans,
that bitter and hasty nation,
lwho march through the breadth of the earth,
mto seize dwellings not their own.
7They are dreaded and fearsome;
ntheir justice and dignity go forth from themselves.
8 oTheir horses are swifter than leopards,
more fierce than pthe evening wolves;
their horsemen press proudly on.
Their horsemen come from afar;
qthey fly like an eagle swift to devour.
9They all come rfor violence,
all their faces forward.
They gather captives slike sand.
10At kings they scoff,
and at rulers they laugh.
tThey laugh at every fortress,
for uthey pile up earth and take it.
