The Proclamation of Cyrus

1 ^aIn the first year of Cyrus king of Persia, ^bthat the word of the Lord by the mouth of Jeremiah might be fulfilled, the Lord stirred up the spirit of Cyrus king of Persia, so ^cthat he made a proclamation throughout all his kingdom and also put it in writing:

Isaiah 41:2

2 ^dWho stirred up one from the east
whom victory meets at every ^estep? ^{▼▼Or whom righteousness calls to follow?}
^gHe gives up nations before him,
so that he tramples kings underfoot;
he makes them like dust with his sword,
^hlike driven stubble with his bow.

Isaiah 41:25

25 ⁱI stirred up one from the north, and he has come,
^jfrom the rising of the sun, ^kand he shall call upon my name;
he shall trample on rulers as on mortar,
as the potter treads clay.

Jeremiah 50:3

3 “For ^lout of the north a nation has come up against her, ^mwhich shall make her land a desolation, and none shall dwell in it; ⁿboth man and beast shall flee away.

Daniel 5:6

Daniel 7:5

5 And behold, ^ananother beast, a second one, like a bear. It was raised up on one side. It had three ribs in its mouth between its teeth; and it was told, ‘Arise, devour much flesh.’

Daniel 8:3

3 I raised my eyes and saw, and behold, ^aoa ram standing on the bank of the canal. It had two horns, and both horns were high, but one was higher than the other, and the higher one came up last.
