Ezra 3:11-13

11And they sang responsively, praising and giving thanks to the Lord,

aFor he is good,
for his steadfast love endures forever toward Israel.”
And all the people shouted with a great shout when they praised the Lord, because the foundation of the house of the Lord was laid.
12But many of the priests and Levites and heads of fathers’ houses, bold men who had seen the first house, wept with a loud voice when they saw the foundation of this house being laid, though many shouted aloud for joy, 13so that the people could not distinguish the sound of the joyful shout from the sound of the people’s weeping, for the people shouted with a great shout, and the sound was heard far away.

Ezra 6:22

22And they kept the Feast of Unleavened Bread cseven days with joy, for the Lord had made them joyful dand had turned the heart of ethe king of Assyria to them, so that he aided them in the work of the house of God, the God of Israel.

Nehemiah 8:12

12And all the people went their way to eat and drink and to send portions and to make great rejoicing, because fthey had understood the words that were declared to them.

Nehemiah 12:43

43And they offered great sacrifices that day and rejoiced, for God had made them rejoice with great joy; the women and children also rejoiced. And the joy of Jerusalem was heard far away.

Isaiah 12

The Lord Is My Strength and My Song

1 You
The Hebrew for  you is singular in verse 1
will say hin that day:
“I will give thanks to you, O Lord,
for though you were angry with me,
iyour anger turned away,
that you might comfort me.
2 Behold, God is my salvation;
I will trust, and will not be afraid;
for jthe Lord God
Hebrew  for Yah, the Lord
is my strength and my song,
and he has become my salvation.”
3 lWith joy you
The Hebrew for  you is plural in verses 3, 4
will draw water from the wells of salvation.
4 nAnd you will say in that day:

o“Give thanks to the Lord,
call upon his name,
pmake known his deeds among the peoples,
proclaim qthat his name is exalted.
5 r“Sing praises to the Lord, for he has done gloriously;
let this be made known
Or this is made known
in all the earth.
6Shout, and sing for joy, O inhabitant of Zion,
for great tin your
The Hebrew for  your in verse 6 is singular, referring to the  inhabitant of Zion
midst is vthe Holy One of Israel.”

Isaiah 51:11

11 wAnd the ransomed of the Lord shall return
and come to Zion with singing;
everlasting joy shall be upon their heads;
they shall obtain gladness and joy,
and sorrow and sighing shall flee away.

Jeremiah 31:12-14

12They shall come and sing aloud on the height of Zion,
xand they shall be radiant yover the goodness of the Lord,
zover the grain, the wine, and the oil,
and over the young of the flock and the herd;
aatheir life shall be like a watered garden,
aband they shall languish no more.
13 acThen shall the young women rejoice in the dance,
and the young men and the old shall be merry.
adI will turn their mourning into joy;
I will comfort them, and give them gladness for sorrow.
14 aeI will feast the soul of the priests with abundance,
and my people shall be satisfied with my goodness,
