Ezra 6:8-12

8Moreover, aI make a decree regarding what you shall do for these elders of the Jews for the rebuilding of this house of God. The cost is to be paid to these men in full and without delay from the royal revenue, the tribute of the province from Beyond the River. 9And whatever is neededbulls, rams, or sheep for burnt offerings to the God of heaven, wheat, salt, wine, or oil, as the priests at Jerusalem require—let that be given to them day by day without fail, 10that they may offer pleasing sacrifices to the God of heaven band pray for the life of the king and his sons. 11Also I make a decree that if anyone alters this edict, a beam shall be pulled out of his house, and he shall be impaled on it, and chis house shall be made a dunghill. 12May the God dwho has caused his name to dwell there overthrow any king or people who shall put out a hand to alter this, or to destroy this house of God that is in Jerusalem. I Darius make a decree; let it be done with all diligence.”

Esther 3:12-15

12 eThen the king’s scribes were summoned on the thirteenth day of the first month, and an edict, according to all that Haman commanded, was written to the king’s fsatraps and to the governors over all the provinces and to the officials of all the peoples, gto every province in its own script and every people in its own language. It was written hin the name of King Ahasuerus iand sealed with the king’s signet ring. 13Letters were sent jby couriers to all the king’s provinces with instruction kto destroy, to kill, and to annihilate all Jews, young and old, women and children, lin one day, the thirteenth day of the twelfth month, which is the month of Adar, mand to plunder their goods. 14 nA copy of the document was to be issued as a decree in every province by proclamation to all the peoples to be ready for that day. 15 oThe couriers went out hurriedly by order of the king, and the decree was issued in Susa the citadel. And the king and Haman sat down to drink, pbut the city of Susa was thrown into confusion.

Esther 8:8-10

8But you may write as you please with regard to the Jews, in the name of the king, qand seal it with the king’s ring, for an edict written in the name of the king and sealed with the king’s ring rcannot be revoked.”

And an edict was written, according to all that Mordecai commanded concerning the Jews, to tthe satraps and the governors and the officials of the provinces ufrom India to Ethiopia, v127 provinces, wto each province in its own script and to each people in its own language, and also to the Jews in their script and their language. 10 xAnd he wrote in the name of King Ahasuerus yand sealed it with the king’s signet ring. Then he sent the letters by mounted couriers riding on zswift horses that were used in the king’s service, bred from the royal stud,

20And Mordecai recorded these things and sent letters to all the Jews who were in all the provinces of King Ahasuerus, both near and far, 21obliging them to keep the fourteenth day of the month Adar and also the fifteenth day of the same, year by year,

Daniel 6:8
