Ezra 7:6

6this Ezra went up from Babylonia. He was a scribe askilled in the Law of Moses that the Lord, the God of Israel, had given, and the king granted him all that he asked, bfor the hand of the Lord his God was on him.

Ezra 7:11

11This is a copy of the letter that King Artaxerxes gave to Ezra the priest, the scribe, a man learned in matters of the commandments of the Lord and his statutes for Israel:

Nehemiah 8:4-9

4And Ezra the scribe stood on a wooden platform that they had made for the purpose. And beside him stood Mattithiah, Shema, Anaiah, Uriah, Hilkiah, and Maaseiah on his right hand, and Pedaiah, Mishael, Malchijah, Hashum, Hashbaddanah, Zechariah, and Meshullam on his left hand. 5And Ezra opened the book in the sight of all the people, for he was above all the people, and as he opened it all the people stood. 6And Ezra blessed the Lord, the great God, and all the people answered, cAmen, Amen,” dlifting up their hands. eAnd they bowed their heads and worshiped the Lord with their faces to the ground. 7 fAlso Jeshua, Bani, Sherebiah, Jamin, Akkub, Shabbethai, Hodiah, Maaseiah, Kelita, Azariah, Jozabad, Hanan, Pelaiah, the Levites,
Vulgate; Hebrew and the Levites
hhelped the people to understand the Law, iwhile the people remained in their places.
8They read from the book, from the Law of God, clearly,
Or with interpretation, or paragraph by paragraph
and they gave the sense, so that the people understood the reading.

This Day Is Holy

9And Nehemiah, who was kthe governor, and Ezra lthe priest and scribe, and the Levites who taught the people said to all the people, m“This day is holy to the Lord your God; ndo not mourn or weep.” For all the people wept as they heard the words of the Law.

Jeremiah 8:8-9

8 oHow can you say, ‘We are wise,
and the law of the Lord is with us’?
But behold, the lying pen of the scribes
has made it into a lie.
9 pThe wise men shall be put to shame;
they shall be dismayed qand taken;
behold, they have rejected the word of the Lord,
so what wisdom is in them?

13But woe wto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you xshut the kingdom of heaven in people’s faces. For you yneither enter yourselves nor allow those who would enter to go in.
Some manuscripts add here (or after verse 12) verse 14: Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you devour widows’ houses and for a pretense you make long prayers; therefore you will receive the greater condemnation

Matthew 23:34
