Ezra 9:1-2

Ezra Prays About Intermarriage

1After these things had been done, the officials approached me and said, “The people of Israel and the priests and the aLevites have not separated themselves from the peoples of the lands bwith their abominations, from the cCanaanites, the Hittites, the Perizzites, the Jebusites, the Ammonites, the Moabites, the Egyptians, and the Amorites. 2 dFor they have taken some of their daughters to be wives for themselves and for their sons, so that the eholy race
Hebrew offspring
has gmixed itself with the peoples of the lands. And in this faithlessness the hand of the officials and chief men has been foremost.”

Nehemiah 13:23-27

23In those days also I saw the Jews hwho had married women iof Ashdod, jAmmon, and kMoab. 24And half of their children spoke the language of Ashdod, and they could not speak the language of Judah, but only the language of each people. 25 lAnd I confronted them and cursed them and beat some of them and pulled out their hair. mAnd I made them take an oath in the name of God, saying, “You shall not give your daughters to their sons, or take their daughters for your sons or for yourselves. 26 nDid not Solomon king of Israel sin on account of such women? oAmong the many nations there was no king like him, and he was pbeloved by his God, and God made him king over all Israel. Nevertheless, foreign women made even him to sin. 27Shall we then listen to you and do all this great evil and qact treacherously against our God by marrying foreign women?”

The Temple of the Living God

14 rDo not be unequally yoked with unbelievers. For swhat partnership has righteousness with lawlessness? Or twhat fellowship has light with darkness? 15 uWhat accord has Christ with Belial?
Greek Beliar
Or what portion does a believer share with an unbeliever?
16What agreement has the temple of God with idols? For wwe are the temple of the living God; as God said,

x“I will make my dwelling among them and ywalk among them,
and zI will be their God,
and they shall be my people.
17Therefore aago out from their midst,
and be separate from them, says the Lord,
and touch no unclean thing;
then I will welcome you,
