9 aFor we are slaves. Yet our God has not forsaken us in our slavery, bbut has extended to us his steadfast love before the kings of Persia, to grant us some reviving to set up the house of our God, to repair its ruins, and to give us protection

Jeremiah 25:6-9

8Therefore thus says the Lord of hosts: Because you have not obeyed my words, 9 pbehold, I will send for all the tribes of the north, declares the Lord, and for Nebuchadnezzar the king of Babylon, qmy servant, and I will bring them against this land and its inhabitants, and against all these surrounding nations. I will devote them to destruction, rand make them a horror, a hissing, and an everlasting desolation.

Jeremiah 25:11-14

11 sThis whole land shall become a ruin and a waste, and tthese nations shall serve the king of Babylon useventy years. 12Then after vseventy years are completed, wI will punish the king of Babylon and that nation, xthe land of the Chaldeans, for their iniquity, declares the Lord, ymaking the land an everlasting waste. 13I will bring upon that land all the words that I have uttered against it, everything written zin this book, which Jeremiah prophesied against all the nations. 14 aaFor many nations aband great kings shall make slaves even of them, acand I will recompense them according to their deeds and the work of their hands.”
