Galatians 3:17-21

17 This is what I mean: the law, which came ^a430 years afterward, does not annul a covenant previously ratified by God, so as ^bto make the promise void. 18 For if the inheritance comes by the law, it no longer comes by promise; but ^cGod gave it to Abraham by a promise.

19 Why then the law? ^dIt was added because of transgressions, ^euntil the offspring should come to whom the promise had been made, and it was ^fput in place through angels ^gby an intermediary. 20 Now ^han intermediary implies more than one, but ⁱGod is one.

21 Is the law then contrary to the promises of God? Certainly not! For ^jif a law had been given that could give life, then righteousness would indeed be by the law.

Hebrews 8:8-9

8 For he finds fault with them when he says: ^{▼▼Some manuscripts For finding fault with it he says to them}

^l“Behold, the days are coming, declares the Lord,
when I will establish a new covenant with the house of Israel
and with the house of Judah,
9 not like the covenant that I made with their fathers
on the day when I took them by the hand to bring them out of the land of Egypt.
For they did not continue in my covenant,
and so I showed no concern for them, declares the Lord.
