2The earth was awithout form and void, and darkness was over the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters.

Isaiah 13:19-22

19And Babylon, bthe glory of kingdoms,
the splendor and pomp of the Chaldeans,
will be clike Sodom and Gomorrah
when God overthrew them.
20 dIt will never be inhabited
or lived in for all generations;
no eArab will pitch his tent there;
no fshepherds will make their flocks lie down there.
21But gwild animals will lie down there,
and their houses will be full of howling creatures;
there hostriches
Or owls
will dwell,
and there wild goats will dance.
22Hyenas
Or foxes
will cry in its towers,
and kjackals in lthe pleasant palaces;
its time is close at hand
and its days will not be prolonged.

Isaiah 14:23

23“And I will make it a possession of the mhedgehog,
Possibly porcupine, or owl
and pools of water, and I will sweep it with the broom of destruction,” declares the Lord of hosts.

Isaiah 24:1

Judgment on the Whole Earth

1 Behold, othe Lord will empty the earth
Or land; also throughout this chapter
and make it desolate,
and he will twist its surface and scatter its inhabitants.

Isaiah 34:10-15

10Night and day qit shall not be quenched;
rits smoke shall go up forever.
sFrom generation to generation it shall lie waste;
none shall pass through it forever and ever.
11 tBut the hawk and the porcupine
The identity of the animals rendered  hawk and  porcupine is uncertain
shall possess it,
the owl and the raven shall dwell in it.
vHe shall stretch the line of wconfusion
Hebrew formlessness
over it,
and the plumb line of emptiness.
12Its nobles—there is no one there to call it a kingdom,
and all its princes shall be nothing.
13 yThorns shall grow over its strongholds,
nettles and thistles in its fortresses.
It shall be the haunt of zjackals,
an abode for ostriches.
Or owls

14 abAnd wild animals shall meet with hyenas;
the wild goat shall cry to his fellow;
indeed, there the night bird
Identity uncertain
settles
and finds for herself a resting place.
15 There the owl nests and lays
and hatches and gathers her young in her shadow;
indeed, there adthe hawks are gathered,
each one with her mate.

Jeremiah 4:23-26

23 I looked on the earth, and behold, it was aewithout form and void;

24I looked on agthe mountains, and behold, they were quaking,
and all the hills moved to and fro.
25 ahI looked, and behold, there was no man,
and all the birds of the air had fled.

Nahum 3:7

7And all who look at you akwill shrink from you and say,
Wasted is alNineveh; amwho will grieve for her?”
