Genesis 10:11-12

11From that land he went into Assyria and built Nineveh, Rehoboth-Ir, Calah, and 12Resen between Nineveh and Calah; that is the great city.

Jonah 1:2

has come up before me.”

Jonah 3:2-10

4Jonah began to go into the city, going a day’s journey. And he called out, “Yet forty days, and Nineveh shall be overthrown!” 5 iAnd the people of Nineveh believed God. jThey called for a fast and kput on sackcloth, from the greatest of them to the least of them.

the king of Nineveh, and mhe arose from his throne, removed his robe, covered himself with sackcloth, nand sat in ashes.
7And he issued a proclamation and published through Nineveh, o“By the decree of the king and his nobles: Let neither man nor pbeast, herd nor flock, taste anything. Let them not feed or drink water, 8but let man and qbeast be covered with sackcloth, and let them call out mightily to God. rLet everyone turn from his evil way and from sthe violence that is in his hands. 9 tWho knows? God may turn and relent uand turn from his fierce anger, so that we may not perish.”

10When God saw what they did, vhow they turned from their evil way, wGod relented of the disaster that he had said he would do to them, and he did not do it.

Matthew 12:41

41 acThe men of Nineveh will rise up at the judgment with this generation and adcondemn it, for aethey repented at the preaching of Jonah, and behold, afsomething greater than Jonah is here.
