31Terah atook Abram his son and Lot the son of Haran, his grandson, and Sarai his daughter-in-law, his son Abram’s wife, and they went forth together bfrom Ur of the Chaldeans to go into the land of Canaan, but when they came to Haran, they settled there.

Genesis 12:1-3

The Call of Abram

1Now cthe Lord said
Or had said
to Abram, “Go from your country
Or land
and your kindred and your father’s house to the land that I will show you.
2 fAnd I will make of you a great nation, and I will bless you and make your name great, so that you will be a blessing. 3 gI will bless those who bless you, and him who dishonors you I will curse, and hin you all the families of the earth shall be blessed.”

Hebrews 11:8-10

8By faith uAbraham obeyed when he was called to go out to a place vthat he was to receive as an inheritance. And he went out, not knowing where he was going. 9By faith he went to live in wthe land of promise, as in a foreign land, xliving in tents ywith Isaac and Jacob, heirs with him of the same promise. 10For he was looking forward to zthe city that has aafoundations, abwhose designer and builder is God.
