Genesis 15:1

God’s Covenant with Abram

1After these things the word of the Lord came to Abram in a vision: aFear not, Abram, I am byour shield; your reward shall be very great.”

Genesis 15:4-6

4And behold, the word of the Lord came to him: “This man shall not be your heir; cyour very own son
Hebrew what will come out of your own loins
shall be your heir.”
5And he brought him outside and said, “Look toward heaven, and enumber the stars, if you are able to number them.” Then he said to him, fSo shall your offspring be.” 6And ghe believed the Lord, and hhe counted it to him as righteousness.

John 8:56

56 iYour father Abraham jrejoiced kthat he would see my day. lHe saw it and was glad.”

Romans 4:11-13

11 mHe received the sign of circumcision as a seal of the righteousness that he had by faith while he was still uncircumcised. The purpose was nto make him the father of all who believe without being circumcised, so that righteousness would be counted to them as well, 12and to make him the father of the circumcised who are not merely circumcised but who also walk in the footsteps of the faith that our father Abraham had before he was circumcised.

The Promise Realized Through Faith

13For othe promise to Abraham and his offspring pthat he would be heir of the world did not come through the law but through the righteousness of faith.

Galatians 3:16

16Now qthe promises were made rto Abraham and to his offspring. It does not say, “And to offsprings,” referring to many, but referring to one, sAnd to your offspring,” who is Christ.
