Exodus 1:11-14

11Therefore they set taskmasters over them dto afflict them with heavy eburdens. They built for Pharaoh fstore cities, Pithom and gRaamses. 12But the more they were oppressed, the more they multiplied and the more they spread abroad. And the Egyptians were in dread of the people of Israel. 13So they ruthlessly made the people of Israel hwork as slaves 14and imade their lives bitter with hard service, in mortar and brick, and in all kinds of work in the field. In all their work they ruthlessly made them work as slaves.

Exodus 2:23-24

God Hears Israel’s Groaning

23 jDuring those many days the king of Egypt died, and the people of Israel kgroaned because of their slavery and cried out for help. lTheir cry for rescue from slavery came up to God. 24And mGod heard their groaning, and God nremembered his covenant with oAbraham, with Isaac, and with Jacob.

Exodus 5:16-21

16No straw is given to your servants, yet they say to us, ‘Make bricks!’ And behold, your servants are beaten; but the fault is in your own people.” 17But he said, “You are idle, you are idle; that is why you say, ‘Let us go and sacrifice to the Lord.’ 18Go now and work. No straw will be given you, but you must still deliver the same number of bricks.” 19The foremen of the people of Israel saw that they were in trouble when they said, “You shall by no means reduce your number of bricks, your daily task each day.” 20They met Moses and Aaron, who were waiting for them, as they came out from Pharaoh; 21and pthey said to them, “The Lord look on you and judge, because you have made us stink in the sight of Pharaoh and his servants, and have put a sword in their hand to kill us.”

Deuteronomy 5:6

Deuteronomy 15:15

15 rYou shall remember that you were a slave in the land of Egypt, and the Lord your God redeemed you; therefore I command you this today.

Ezekiel 20:8

8 sBut they rebelled against me and were not willing to listen to me. tNone of them cast away the detestable things their eyes feasted on, nor did they forsake the idols of Egypt.
