Genesis 16:13-14
13So she called the name of the Lord who spoke to her, “You are a God of seeing,” ▼▼Or You are a God who sees me
for she said, b“Truly here I have seen him who looks after me.” ▼▼Hebrew Have I really seen him here who sees me? or Would I have looked here for the one who sees me?
14Therefore the well was called dBeer-lahai-roi; ▼▼ Beer-lahai-roi means the well of the Living One who sees me
it lies between fKadesh and Bered. Genesis 28:19
19He called the name of that place gBethel, ▼▼ Bethel means the house of God
but the name of the city was Luz at the first. Genesis 32:30
30So Jacob called the name of the place Peniel, ▼▼ Peniel means the face of God
saying, “For jI have seen God face to face, and yet my life has been delivered.” Exodus 17:15
15And Moses kbuilt an altar and called the name of it, The Lord Is My Banner,Judges 6:24
24Then Gideon built an altar there to the Lord and called it, lThe Lord Is Peace. To this day it still stands at mOphrah, which belongs to the Abiezrites.1 Samuel 7:12
12Then Samuel ntook a stone and set it up between Mizpah and Shen ▼▼Hebrew; Septuagint, Syriac Jeshanah
and called its name Ebenezer; ▼▼ Ebenezer means stone of help
for he said, “Till now the Lord has helped us.” Ezekiel 48:35
35The circumference of the city shall be 18,000 cubits. And qthe name of the city from that time on shall be, rThe Lord Is There.”
