Genesis 17:17

17 Then Abraham ^afell on his face ^band laughed and said to himself, “Shall a child be born to a man who is a hundred years old? Shall Sarah, who is ninety years old, bear a child?”

Genesis 18:12-15

12 ^cSo Sarah laughed to herself, saying, ^d“After I am worn out, and ^emy lord is old, shall I have pleasure?” 13 The Lord said to Abraham, “Why did Sarah laugh and say, ‘Shall I indeed bear a child, now that I am old?’ 14 ^fIs anything too hard ^{▼▼Or wonderful} for the Lord? ^hAt the appointed time I will return to you, about this time next year, and Sarah shall have a son.” 15 But Sarah denied it, ^{▼▼Or acted falsely} saying, “I did not laugh,” for she was afraid. He said, “No, but you did laugh.”

1 Samuel 1:26-28

26 And she said, “Oh, my lord! ^jAs you live, my lord, I am the woman who was standing here in your presence, praying to the Lord. 27 For this child I prayed, ^kand the Lord has granted me my petition that I made to him. 28 Therefore I have lent him to the Lord. As long as he lives, he is lent to the Lord.”

Hannah’s Prayer

1 And Hannah prayed and said,

My mouth derides my enemies,

there is ^qno rock like our God.
3 Talk no more so very proudly,
let not arrogance come from your mouth;
for the Lord is a God of knowledge,
and by him actions are weighed.

but the feeble bind on strength.
5 Those who were full have hired themselves out for bread,
but those who were hungry have ceased to hunger.

10 ^abThe adversaries of the Lord shall be broken to pieces;
^acagainst them he will thunder in heaven.
^adThe Lord will judge the ends of the earth;
he will give strength to his king
^aeand exalt the horn of his anointed.”

Psalms 113:9

9 He ^afgives the barren woman a home,
making her the joyous mother of children.

Isaiah 49:15

15 ^aj“Can a woman forget her nursing child,
that she should have no compassion on the son of her womb?
Even these may forget,
yet I will not forget you.

Isaiah 49:21

21 Then you will say in your heart:
‘Who has borne me these?
