The way of women had ceased to be with Sarah. 12 fSo Sarah laughed to herself, saying, gAfter I am worn out, and hmy lord is old, shall I have pleasure?” 13The Lord said to Abraham, “Why did Sarah laugh and say, ‘Shall I indeed bear a child, now that I am old?’ 14 iIs anything too hard
Or wonderful
for the Lord? kAt the appointed time I will return to you, about this time next year, and Sarah shall have a son.”

Genesis 21:2-3

13But the angel said to him, “Do not be afraid, Zechariah, for uyour prayer has been heard, and your wife Elizabeth will bear you a son, and vyou shall call his name John. 14And you will have joy and gladness, and many will wrejoice at his birth, 15for he will be xgreat before the Lord. And yhe must not drink wine or strong zdrink, and aahe will be abfilled with the Holy Spirit, aceven from his mother’s womb. 16And he will turn many of the children of Israel to the Lord their God, 17and adhe will go before him aein the spirit and power of Elijah, afto turn the hearts of the fathers to the children, and agthe disobedient to the wisdom of the just, ahto make ready for the Lord a people prepared.”

Romans 9:6-9

6But it is not as though the word of God has failed. For not all who are descended from Israel belong to Israel, 7and not all are children of Abraham ambecause they are his offspring, but anThrough Isaac shall your offspring be named.” 8This means that it is not the children of the flesh who are the children of God, but aothe children of the promise are counted as offspring. 9For this is what the promise said: apAbout this time next year I will return, and Sarah shall have a son.”

Galatians 4:28-31

28Now you,
Some manuscripts we
brothers, arlike Isaac, asare children of promise.
29But just as at that time he who was born according to the flesh atpersecuted him who was born according to the Spirit, auso also it is now. 30But what does the Scripture say? av“Cast out the slave woman and her son, for the son of the slave woman shall not inherit with the son of the free woman.” 31So, brothers, we are not children of the slave but awof the free woman.
