38The younger also bore a son and called his name Ben-ammi.
 Ben-ammi means son of my people
bHe is the father of the Ammonites to this day.

Deuteronomy 2:19

19And when you approach the territory of the people of Ammon, cdo not harass them or contend with them, for I will not give you any of the land of the people of Ammon as a possession, because I have given it to dthe sons of Lot for a possession.’

Judges 11:15-18

15and said to him, “Thus says Jephthah: eIsrael did not take away the land of Moab or the land of the Ammonites, 16but when they came up from Egypt, Israel went through the wilderness fto the Red Sea and gcame to Kadesh. 17 hIsrael then sent messengers to the king of Edom, saying, ‘Please let us pass through your land,’ ibut the king of Edom would not listen. And they sent also to the king of Moab, but he would not consent. So Israel jremained at Kadesh.

18“Then they journeyed through the wilderness and kwent around the land of Edom and the land of Moab and larrived on the east side of the land of Moab and mcamped on the other side of the Arnon. But they did not enter the territory of Moab, for the Arnon was the boundary of Moab.

1 Samuel 11:1

Saul Defeats the Ammonites

1 nThen Nahash the Ammonite went up and besieged oJabesh-gilead, and all the men of Jabesh said to Nahash, pMake a treaty with us, and we will serve you.”

2 Samuel 8:2

2 qAnd he defeated Moab and he measured them with a line, making them lie down on the ground. Two lines he measured to be put to death, and one full line to be spared. And the Moabites rbecame servants to David and sbrought tribute.
