Genesis 21:10-12

10So she said to Abraham, a“Cast out this slave woman with her son, for the son of this slave woman shall not be heir with my son Isaac.” 11And the thing was very displeasing to Abraham on account of his son. 12But God said to Abraham, “Be not displeased because of the boy and because of your slave woman. Whatever Sarah says to you, do as she tells you, for bthrough Isaac shall your offspring be named.

12and to make him the father of the circumcised who are not merely circumcised but who also walk in the footsteps of the faith that our father Abraham had before he was circumcised.

Romans 4:16-21

16That is why it depends on faith, cin order that the promise may rest on grace and dbe guaranteed to all his offspringnot only to the adherent of the law but also to the one who shares the faith of Abraham, ewho is the father of us all, 17as it is written, f“I have made you the father of many nations”—in the presence of the God in whom he believed, gwho gives life to the dead and calls into existence hthe things that do not exist. 18In hope he believed against hope, that he should become the father of many nations, as he had been told, iSo shall your offspring be.” 19He did not weaken in faith when he considered his own body, which was jas good as dead ( ksince he was about a hundred years old), or when he considered lthe barrenness

of Sarah’s womb.
20No unbelief made him waver concerning the promise of God, but he grew strong in his faith as he gave glory to God, 21fully convinced that nGod was able to do what he had promised.

Romans 9:7-8

7and not all are children of Abraham obecause they are his offspring, but pThrough Isaac shall your offspring be named.” 8This means that it is not the children of the flesh who are the children of God, but qthe children of the promise are counted as offspring.

Galatians 3:7

7Know then that it is rthose of faith who are sthe sons of Abraham.

Galatians 3:16

16Now tthe promises were made uto Abraham and to his offspring. It does not say, “And to offsprings,” referring to many, but referring to one, vAnd to your offspring,” who is Christ.

Galatians 3:28

28 wThere is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave

nor free, ythere is no male and female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus.

Galatians 4:22-31

22For it is written that Abraham had two sons, zone by a slave woman and aaone by a free woman. 23But abthe son of the slave was born according to the flesh, while acthe son of the free woman was born through promise. 24Now this may be interpreted allegorically: these women are two adcovenants. aeOne is from Mount Sinai, bearing children for slavery; she is Hagar. 25Now Hagar is Mount Sinai in Arabia;
Some manuscripts For Sinai is a mountain in Arabia
she corresponds to the present Jerusalem, for she is in slavery with her children.
26But agthe Jerusalem above is free, and she is our mother. 27For it is written,

ahRejoice, O barren one who does not bear;
break forth and cry aloud, you who are not in labor!
For the children of the desolate one will be more
than those of the one who has a husband.”
28Now you,
Some manuscripts we
brothers, ajlike Isaac, akare children of promise.
29But just as at that time he who was born according to the flesh alpersecuted him who was born according to the Spirit, amso also it is now. 30But what does the Scripture say? an“Cast out the slave woman and her son, for the son of the slave woman shall not inherit with the son of the free woman.” 31So, brothers, we are not children of the slave but aoof the free woman.
