The Sacrifice of Isaac

1After these things aGod tested Abraham and said to him, “Abraham!” And he said, “Here I am.” 2He said, “Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to bthe land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you.”

13You will tread on cthe lion and the dadder;
the young lion and ethe serpent you will ftrample underfoot.

18 gthey will pick up serpents with their hands; and if they drink any deadly poison, it will not hurt them; hthey will lay their hands ion the sick, and they will recover.”

3When Paul had gathered a bundle of sticks and put them on the fire, a viper came out because of the heat and fastened on his hand. 4When mthe native people saw the creature hanging from his hand, they said to one another, n“No doubt this man is a murderer. 5He, however, qshook off the creature into the fire and suffered no harm. 6They were waiting for him to swell up or suddenly fall down dead. But when they had waited a long time and saw no misfortune come to him, rthey changed their minds and ssaid that he was a god.
