30And Esau said to Jacob, “Let me eat some of that red stew, for I am exhausted!” (Therefore his name was called Edom.
 Edom sounds like the Hebrew for  red
)

Genesis 27:41

41Now Esau bhated Jacob because of the blessing with which his father had blessed him, and Esau said to himself, c“The days of mourning for my father are approaching; dthen I will kill my brother Jacob.”

Genesis 36:8

8So Esau settled in ethe hill country of Seir. ( fEsau is Edom.)

Numbers 20:14-21

Edom Refuses Passage

14 gMoses sent messengers from Kadesh to hthe king of Edom: “Thus says iyour brother Israel: You know all the hardship that we have met: 15 jhow our fathers went down to Egypt, kand we lived in Egypt a long time. lAnd the Egyptians dealt harshly with us and our fathers. 16And mwhen we cried to the Lord, he heard our voice and nsent an angel and brought us out of Egypt. And here we are in Kadesh, a city on the edge of your territory. 17 oPlease let us pass through your land. We will not pass through field or vineyard, por drink water from a well. We will go along the King’s Highway. We will not turn aside to the right hand or to the left until we have passed through your territory.” 18But Edom said to him, “You shall not pass through, lest I come out with the sword against you.” 19And the people of Israel said to him, “We will go up by the highway, qand if we drink of your water, I and my livestock, rthen I will pay for it. Let me only pass through on foot, nothing more.” 20But he said, s“You shall not pass through.” And Edom came out against them with a large army and with a strong force. 21Thus Edom trefused to give Israel passage through his territory, so Israel uturned away from him.

Numbers 24:17-18

17 vI see him, but not now;
I behold him, but not near:
wa star shall come out of Jacob,
and xa scepter shall rise out of Israel;
it shall ycrush the forehead
Hebrew corners [of the head]
of Moab
and break down all the sons of Sheth.
18 aaEdom shall be dispossessed;
abSeir also, his enemies, shall be dispossessed.
Israel is doing valiantly.

Deuteronomy 23:7

7“You shall not abhor an Edomite, for ache is your brother. You shall not abhor an Egyptian, because adyou were a sojourner in his land.

Jeremiah 25:9

9 aebehold, I will send for all the tribes of the north, declares the Lord, and for Nebuchadnezzar the king of Babylon, afmy servant, and I will bring them against this land and its inhabitants, and against all these surrounding nations. I will devote them to destruction, agand make them a horror, a hissing, and an everlasting desolation.
