Isaiah 63:1-6

The Lord’s Day of Vengeance

1 Who is this who comes from jEdom,
in crimsoned garments from kBozrah,
he who is splendid in his apparel,
lmarching in the greatness of his strength?
“It is I, speaking in righteousness,
mighty to save.”
2 Why is your mapparel red,
and your garments like his nwho treads in the winepress?
3 o“I have trodden the winepress alone,
pand from the peoples no one was with me;
I trod them in my anger
and trampled them in my wrath;
their lifeblood
Or  their juice; also verse 6
spattered on my garments,
and stained all my apparel.
4 rFor the day of vengeance was in my heart,
and my year of redemption
Or the year of my redeemed
had come.
5I looked, but tthere was no one to help;
I was appalled, but there was no one to uphold;
so my own arm brought me salvation,
and my wrath upheld me.
6I trampled down the peoples in my anger;
uI made them drunk in my wrath,
and I poured out their lifeblood on the earth.”

Jeremiah 49:2

2Therefore, behold, the days are coming,
declares the Lord,
when I will cause vthe battle cry to be heard
against wRabbah of the Ammonites;
it shall become a desolate xmound,
and its villages shall be burned with fire;
then Israel shall dispossess those who dispossessed him,
says the Lord.
