Genesis 29:35

35And she conceived again and bore a son, and said, “This time I will praise the Lord.” Therefore she called his name aJudah.
 Judah sounds like the Hebrew for  praise
Then she ceased bearing.

Genesis 38:1-3

Judah and Tamar

1It happened at that time that Judah went down from his brothers and cturned aside to a certain dAdullamite, whose name was Hirah. 2There Judah saw the daughter of a certain Canaanite whose name was eShua. He took her and went in to her, 3and she conceived and bore a son, and he called his name fEr.

Genesis 38:7

7But Er, Judah’s firstborn, gwas wicked in the sight of the Lord, and the Lord put him to death.

Genesis 38:10

10And what he did was wicked in the sight of the Lord, and he put him to death also.

Genesis 38:24-30

24About three months later Judah was told, “Tamar your daughter-in-law hhas been immoral.
Or  has committed prostitution
Moreover, she is pregnant by immorality.”
Or  by prostitution
And Judah said, “Bring her out, and klet her be burned.”
25As she was being brought out, she sent word to her father-in-law, “By the man to whom these belong, I am pregnant.” And she said, “Please identify whose these are, lthe signet and the cord and the staff.” 26Then Judah identified them and said, m“She is more righteous than I, since nI did not give her to my son Shelah.” And he did not know her again.

27When the time of her labor came, there were twins in her womb. 28And when she was in labor, one put out a hand, and the midwife took and tied a scarlet thread on his hand, saying, “This one came out first.” 29But as he drew back his hand, behold, his brother came out. And she said, “What a breach you have made for yourself!” Therefore his name was called oPerez.
 Perez means a breach
30Afterward his brother came out with the scarlet thread on his hand, and his name was called qZerah.

Genesis 49:8-12

8 Judah, ryour brothers shall praise you;
syour hand shall be on the neck of your enemies;
tyour father’s sons shall bow down before you.
9Judah is ua lion’s cub;
from the prey, my son, you have gone up.
vHe stooped down; he crouched as a lion
and as a lioness; who dares rouse him?
10The wscepter shall not depart from Judah,
nor the ruler’s staff xfrom between his feet,
until tribute comes to him;
By a slight revocalization; a slight emendation yields (compare Septuagint, Syriac, Targum)  until he comes to whom it belongs; Hebrew until Shiloh comes, or until he comes to Shiloh

and to him shall be the obedience of the peoples.
11Binding his foal to the vine
and his donkey’s colt to the choice vine,
he has washed his garments in wine
and his vesture in the blood of grapes.
12His zeyes are darker than wine,
and his teeth whiter than milk.

Numbers 1:26-27

26Of the people of Judah, their generations, by their clans, by their fathershouses, according to the number of names, from twenty years old and upward, every man able to go to war: 27those listed of the tribe of Judah were ab74,600.

Numbers 26:19-21

19The sons of acJudah were Er and Onan; and Er and Onan died in the land of Canaan. 20And the sons of Judah according to their clans were: of Shelah, the clan of the Shelanites; of Perez, the clan of the Perezites; of Zerah, the clan of the Zerahites. 21And the sons of Perez were: of Hezron, the clan of the Hezronites; of Hamul, the clan of the Hamulites.

Deuteronomy 33:7

7And this he said of Judah:

Hear, O Lord, the voice of Judah,
and bring him in to his people.
With your hands contend
