Genesis 3:16-19

16To the woman he said,

“I will surely multiply your pain in childbearing;
ain pain you shall bring forth children.
bYour desire shall be contrary to
Or shall be toward (see 4:7)
your husband,
but he shall drule over you.”
17And to Adam he said,

Because you have listened to the voice of your wife
and have eaten of the tree
eof which I commanded you,
‘You shall not eat of it,’
fcursed is the ground because of you;
gin pain you shall eat of it all the days of your life;
18thorns and thistles it shall bring forth for you;
and you shall eat the plants of the field.
19By the sweat of your face
you shall eat bread,
till you return to the ground,
for out of it you were taken;
hfor you are dust,
and ito dust you shall return.”

Genesis 3:22-24

22Then the Lord God said, jBehold, the man has become like one of us in knowing good and evil. Now, lest he reach out his hand kand take also of the tree of life and eat, and live forever—” 23therefore the Lord God sent him out from the garden of Eden lto work the ground from which he was taken. 24He drove out the man, and at the east of the garden of Eden he placed the mcherubim and a flaming sword that turned every way to guard the way to the tree of life.
