Genesis 32:12

12But ayou said, ‘I will surely do you good, and make your offspring as the sand of the sea, which cannot be numbered for multitude.’”

Job 16:21

21that he would bargue the case of a man with God,
as
Hebrew and
a son of man does with his neighbor.

Job 23:3-6

3Oh, dthat I knew where I might find him,
that I might come even to his eseat!
4I would flay my case before him
and fill my mouth with arguments.
5I would know what he would answer me
and understand what he would say to me.
6Would he gcontend with me in the greatness of his power?
No; he would pay attention to me.

Job 40:4-5

4 Behold, I am hof small account; what shall I answer you?
iI lay my hand on my mouth.
5I have spoken jonce, and I will not answer;
ktwice, but I will proceed no further.”

Psalms 141:2

2Let lmy prayer be counted as incense before you,
and mthe lifting up of my hands as nthe evening sacrifice!

Isaiah 1:18

18 Come now, olet us reason
Or dispute
together, says the Lord:
though your sins are like scarlet,
they shall be as qwhite as snow;
though they are red like crimson,
they shall become like wool.

Jeremiah 2:21-35

21 rYet I planted you a choice vine,
wholly of pure seed.
sHow then have you turned degenerate
and become a wild vine?
22Though you wash yourself with lye
and use much soap,
tthe stain of your guilt is still before me,

declares the Lord God.
23 uHow can you say, ‘I am not unclean,
I have not gone after the Baals’?
Look at your way vin the valley;
know what you have done
a restless young camel running here and there,
24 wa wild donkey used to the wilderness,
in her heat sniffing the wind!
Who can restrain her lust?
None who seek her need weary themselves;
in her month they will find her.
25Keep xyour feet from going unshod
and yyour throat from thirst.
But you said, ‘It is hopeless,
zfor I have loved foreigners,
and after them I will go.’
26 “As a thief is shamed when caught,
so the house of Israel shall be shamed:
aathey, their kings, their officials,
their priests, and their prophets,
27who say to a tree, ‘You are my father,’
and to a stone, ‘You gave me birth.’
For they have turned their back to me,
and not their face.
But abin the time of their trouble they say,
Arise and save us!’
28But acwhere are your gods
that you made for yourself?
Let them arise, adif they can save you,
in your time of trouble;
for aeas many as your cities
are your gods, O Judah.
29 Why do you contend with me?
You have all transgressed against me,

declares the Lord.
30In vain have I afstruck your children;
they took no correction;
agyour own sword devoured your prophets
like a ravening lion.
31And you, O generation, behold the word of the Lord.
Have I been a wilderness to Israel,
or a land of thick darkness?
Why then do my people say, ‘We are free,
we will come no more to you’?
32 ahCan a virgin forget her ornaments,
or a bride her attire?
Yet aimy people have forgotten me
days without number.
33 How well you direct your course
to seek love!
So that even to wicked women
you have taught your ways.
34Also on your skirts is found
ajthe lifeblood of the guiltless poor;
you did not find them akbreaking in.
Yet in spite of all these things
35you say, ‘I am innocent;
surely his anger has turned from me.’
alBehold, I will bring you to judgment
for amsaying, ‘I have not sinned.’
