Genesis 32:24-28

24 And Jacob was left alone. And ^aa man wrestled with him until the breaking of the day. 25 When the man saw that he did not prevail against Jacob, he touched his hip socket, and Jacob’s hip was put out of joint as he wrestled with him. 26 Then he said, “Let me go, for the day has broken.” But Jacob said, ^b“I will not let you go unless you bless me.” 27 And he said to him, “What is your name?” And he said, “Jacob.” 28 Then he said, ^c“Your name shall no longer be called Jacob, but Israel, ^{▼▼ Israel means He strives with God, or God strives} for ^eyou have striven with God and ^fwith men, and have prevailed.”

Matthew 15:25-28

25 But she came and ^gknelt before him, saying, “Lord, help me.” 26 And he answered, “It is not right to take the children’s bread and ^hthrow it to the dogs.” 27 She said, “Yes, Lord, yet even the dogs eat ⁱthe crumbs that fall from their masters’ table.” 28 Then Jesus answered her, “O woman, ^jgreat is your faith! ^kBe it done for you as you desire.” ^lAnd her daughter was ^mhealed instantly. ^{▼▼Greek from that hour}

Luke 11:5-8

5 And he said to them, “Which of you who has a friend will go to him at midnight and say to him, ‘Friend, lend me three loaves, 6 for a friend of mine has arrived on a journey, and I have nothing to set before him’; 7 and he will answer from within, ‘Do not bother me; the door is now shut, and my children are with me in bed. I cannot get up and give you anything’? 8 I tell you, though he will not get up and give him anything ^obecause he is his friend, yet because of his impudence ^{▼▼Or persistence} he will rise and give him whatever he needs.

The Parable of the Persistent Widow

1 And he told them a parable to the effect that they ought ^qalways to pray and not ^rlose heart. 2 He said, “In a certain city there was a judge who ^sneither feared God nor respected man. 3 And there was a widow in that city who kept coming to him and saying, ‘Give me justice against my adversary.’ 4 For a while he refused, but afterward he said to himself, ^t‘Though I neither fear God nor respect man, 5 yet because this widow keeps bothering me, I will give her justice, so that she will not beat me down by her continual coming.’” 6 And the Lord said, “Hear what the unrighteous judge says. 7 And ^uwill not God give justice to ^vhis elect, ^wwho cry to him day and night? ^x, ^yWill he delay long over them? 8 I tell you, he will give justice to them ^zspeedily. Nevertheless, when the Son of Man comes, ^aawill he find faith on earth?”
