Genesis 32:24-30

24And Jacob was left alone. And aa man wrestled with him until the breaking of the day. 25When the man saw that he did not prevail against Jacob, he touched his hip socket, and Jacob’s hip was put out of joint as he wrestled with him. 26Then he said, “Let me go, for the day has broken.” But Jacob said, b“I will not let you go unless you bless me.” 27And he said to him, “What is your name?” And he said, “Jacob.” 28Then he said, c“Your name shall no longer be called Jacob, but Israel,
Israel means He strives with God, or God strives
for eyou have striven with God and fwith men, and have prevailed.”
29Then Jacob asked him, “Please tell me your name.” But he said, gWhy is it that you ask my name?” And there he blessed him. 30So Jacob called the name of the place Peniel,
Peniel means the face of God
saying, “For iI have seen God face to face, and yet my life has been delivered.”

Genesis 46:2-4

2And God spoke to Israel jin visions of the night and said, “Jacob, Jacob.” And he said, “Here I am.” 3Then he said, “I am God, kthe God of your father. Do not be afraid to go down to Egypt, for there I will lmake you into a great nation. 4I myself will go down with you to Egypt, and I will also mbring you up again, and nJoseph’s hand shall close your eyes.”

Exodus 3

The Burning Bush

1Now Moses was keeping the flock of his father-in-law, Jethro, the priest of Midian, and he led his flock to the west side of the wilderness and came to Horeb, the omountain of God. 2 pAnd qthe angel of the Lord appeared to him in a flame of fire out of the midst of a bush. He looked, and behold, the bush was burning, yet it was not consumed. 3And Moses said, “I will turn aside to see this great sight, why the bush is not burned.” 4When the Lord saw that he turned aside to see, rGod called to him sout of the bush, “Moses, Moses!” And he said, “Here I am.” 5Then he said, “Do not come near; ttake your sandals off your feet, for the place on which you are standing is holy ground.” 6And he said, u“I am the God of your father, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob.” And Moses hid his face, for vhe was afraid to look at God.

7Then the Lord said, w“I have surely seen the affliction of my people who are in Egypt and have heard their cry because of their xtaskmasters. I know their sufferings, 8and yI have come down to deliver them out of the hand of the Egyptians and zto bring them up out of that land to a aagood and broad land, a land abflowing with milk and honey, to the place of acthe Canaanites, the Hittites, the Amorites, the Perizzites, the Hivites, and the Jebusites. 9And now, behold, adthe cry of the people of Israel has come to me, and I have also seen the aeoppression with which the Egyptians oppress them. 10 afCome, I will send you to Pharaoh that you may bring my people, the children of Israel, out of Egypt.” 11But Moses said to God, agWho am I that I should go to Pharaoh and bring the children of Israel out of Egypt?” 12He said, ahBut I will be with you, and this shall be the sign for you, that I have sent you: when you have brought the people out of Egypt, aiyou shall serve God on this mountain.”

13Then Moses said to God, “If I come to the people of Israel and say to them, ‘The God of your fathers has sent me to you,’ and they ask me, ‘What is his name?’ what shall I say to them?” 14God said to Moses, “I am who I am.”
Or  I am what I am, or  I will be what I will be
And he said, “Say this to the people of Israel: akI am has sent me to you.’”
15God also said to Moses, “Say this to the people of Israel: ‘The Lord,
The word Lord, when spelled with capital letters, stands for the divine name, YHWH, which is here connected with the verb hayah, “to be” in verse 14
the amGod of your fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, has sent me to you.’ This is anmy name forever, and thus I am to be remembered throughout all generations.
16Go and aogather the elders of Israel together and say to them, ‘The Lord, the God of your fathers, the God of Abraham, of Isaac, and of Jacob, has appeared to me, saying, ap“I have observed you and what has been done to you in Egypt, 17and I promise that aqI will bring you up out of the affliction of Egypt to the land of the Canaanites, the Hittites, the Amorites, the Perizzites, the Hivites, and the Jebusites, a land arflowing with milk and honey.”’ 18And asthey will listen to your voice, and you and the elders of Israel atshall go to the king of Egypt and say to him, ‘The Lord, the God of the Hebrews, has aumet with us; and now, please let us go a three daysjourney into the wilderness, that we may sacrifice to the Lord our God.’ 19But I know that the king of Egypt avwill not let you go unless compelled awby a mighty hand.
Septuagint, Vulgate; Hebrew  go, not by a mighty hand
20So ayI will stretch out my hand and strike Egypt with azall the wonders that I will do in it; baafter that he will let you go. 21And bbI will give this people favor in the sight of the Egyptians; and when you go, you shall not go empty, 22but each woman shall ask of her neighbor, and any woman who lives in her house, for bcsilver and gold jewelry, and for clothing. You shall put them on your sons and on your daughters. So bdyou shall plunder the Egyptians.”

Luke 24:44

44Then he said to them, bhThese are my words that I spoke to you while I was still with you, bithat everything written about me in the Law of Moses and the Prophets and the Psalms must be fulfilled.”

Acts 28:23

23When they had appointed a day for him, they came to him at his lodging in greater numbers. From morning till evening bjhe expounded to them, testifying to bkthe kingdom of God and bltrying to convince them about Jesus bmboth from the Law of Moses and from the Prophets.

1 Peter 1:10-12

10Concerning this salvation, bnthe prophets who prophesied about the grace that was to be yours searched and inquired carefully, 11inquiring bowhat person or time bpthe Spirit of Christ in them was indicating bqwhen he predicted brthe sufferings of Christ and the subsequent glories. 12 bsIt was revealed to them that btthey were serving not themselves but you, in the things that have now been announced to you through those who preached the good news to you buby the Holy Spirit sent from heaven, bvthings into which angels long to look.
