Genesis 32:27-29

27And he said to him, “What is your name?” And he said, “Jacob.” 28Then he said, a“Your name shall no longer be called Jacob, but Israel,
 Israel means He strives with God, or God strives
for cyou have striven with God and dwith men, and have prevailed.”
29Then Jacob asked him, “Please tell me your name.” But he said, eWhy is it that you ask my name?” And there he blessed him.

Genesis 48:15-16

15And he blessed Joseph and said,

“The God fbefore whom my fathers Abraham and Isaac walked,
the God who has been my shepherd all my life long to this day,
16 gthe angel who has hredeemed me from all evil, bless the boys;
and in them let imy name be carried on, and the name of my fathers Abraham and Isaac;
and let them jgrow into a multitude
Or  let them be like fish for multitude
in the midst of the earth.”

Exodus 3:13-15

13Then Moses said to God, “If I come to the people of Israel and say to them, ‘The God of your fathers has sent me to you,’ and they ask me, ‘What is his name?’ what shall I say to them?” 14God said to Moses, “I am who I am.”
Or  I am what I am, or  I will be what I will be
And he said, “Say this to the people of Israel: mI am has sent me to you.’”
15God also said to Moses, “Say this to the people of Israel: ‘The Lord,
The word Lord, when spelled with capital letters, stands for the divine name, YHWH, which is here connected with the verb hayah, “to be” in verse 14
the oGod of your fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, has sent me to you.’ This is pmy name forever, and thus I am to be remembered throughout all generations.
