Genesis 32:9-12

9And Jacob said, a“O God of my father Abraham and God of my father Isaac, O Lord who bsaid to me, ‘Return to your country and to your kindred, that I may do you good,’ 10 cI am not worthy of the least of all the deeds of steadfast love and all the faithfulness that you have shown to your servant, for with only my staff I crossed this Jordan, and now I have become two camps. 11Please deliver me from the hand of my brother, from the hand of Esau, for dI fear him, that he may come and attack me, the mothers with the children. 12But eyou said, ‘I will surely do you good, and make your offspring as the sand of the sea, which cannot be numbered for multitude.’”

Hezekiah’s Prayer

14Hezekiah received jthe letter from the hand of the messengers and read it; and Hezekiah went up to the house of the Lord and spread it before the Lord. 15And Hezekiah prayed before the Lord and said: “O Lord, the God of Israel, kenthroned above the cherubim, lyou are the God, you alone, of all the kingdoms of the earth; you have made heaven and earth. 16 mIncline your ear, O Lord, and hear; nopen your eyes, O Lord, and see; and hear the words of Sennacherib, which he has sent oto mock the living God. 17Truly, O Lord, the kings of Assyria have laid waste the nations and their lands 18and have cast their gods into the fire, for they were not gods, pbut the work of men’s hands, wood and stone. Therefore they were destroyed. 19So now, O Lord our God, save us, please, from his hand, qthat all the kingdoms of the earth may know that ryou, O Lord, are God alone.”

17 vEvening and wmorning and at xnoon

19God will give ear and humble them,
he who is aaenthroned from of old,  Selah
because they do not abchange
and do not fear God.
20 My companion
Hebrew He
adstretched out his hand against his friends;
he violated his covenant.
21His aespeech was afsmooth as butter,

and he will sustain you;
aihe will never permit
