Genesis 37:18-20

18They saw him from afar, and before he came near to them athey conspired against him to kill him. 19They said to one another, “Here comes this dreamer. 20Come now, blet us kill him and throw him into one of the pits.
Or cisterns; also verses 22, 24
Then we will say that a fierce animal has devoured him, and we will see what will become of his dreams.”

Genesis 42:21-22

21Then they said to one another, d“In truth we are guilty concerning our brother, in that we saw the distress of his soul, when he begged us and we did not listen. That is why this distress has come upon us.” 22And Reuben answered them, e“Did I not tell you not to sin against the boy? But you did not listen. So now fthere comes a reckoning for his blood.”
