Genesis 37:20

20 Come now, ^alet us kill him and throw him into one of the pits. ^{▼▼Or cisterns; also verses 22, 24} Then we will say that a fierce animal has devoured him, and we will see what will become of his dreams.”

Jeremiah 38:6

6 So they took Jeremiah ^cand cast him into the cistern of Malchiah, the king’s son, which was in ^dthe court of the guard, letting Jeremiah down ^eby ropes. ^fAnd there was no water in the cistern, but only mud, and ^gJeremiah sank in the mud.

Jeremiah 38:11

11 So ^hEbed-melech took the men with him and went to the house of the king, to a wardrobe in the storehouse, and took from there old rags and worn-out clothes, which he let down to Jeremiah in the cistern ⁱby ropes.

Jeremiah 38:13

13 Then they drew Jeremiah up with ^jropes and lifted him out of the cistern. And Jeremiah remained in the ^kcourt of the guard.
