Genesis 37:29-30

29When Reuben returned to the pit and saw that Joseph was not in the pit, he atore his clothes 30and returned to his brothers and said, “The boy bis gone, and I, where shall I go?”

Genesis 37:34-35

34Then Jacob tore his garments and put sackcloth on his loins and mourned for his son many days. 35All his sons and all his daughters crose up to comfort him, but he refused to be comforted and said, “No, dI shall go down to Sheol to my son, mourning.” Thus his father wept for him.

Genesis 42:36-38

36And Jacob their father said to them, “You have ebereaved me of my children: Joseph is no more, and Simeon is no more, and now you would take Benjamin. All this has come against me.” 37Then Reuben said to his father, “Kill fmy two sons if I do not bring him back to you. Put him in my hands, and I will bring him back to you.” 38But he said, “My son shall not go down with you, for ghis brother is dead, and he is the only one left. hIf harm should happen to him on the journey that you are to make, iyou would bring down my gray hairs with sorrow to Sheol.”
