Genesis 4:1-2

Cain and Abel

1Now Adam knew Eve his wife, and she conceived and bore Cain, saying, “I have gotten
 Cain sounds like the Hebrew for  gotten
a man with the help of the Lord.”
2And again, she bore his brother Abel. Now Abel was a keeper of sheep, and Cain a worker of the ground.

Genesis 4:25

25And Adam knew his wife again, and she bore a son and called his name Seth, for she said, “God has appointed
 Seth sounds like the Hebrew for he appointed
for me another offspring instead of Abel, for Cain killed him.”

Genesis 16:11

11And the angel of the Lord said to her,

Behold, you are pregnant
and shall bear a son.
You shall call his name Ishmael,
 Ishmael means God hears

dbecause the Lord has listened to your affliction.

Genesis 29:32

32And Leah conceived and bore a son, and she called his name Reuben,
 Reuben means See, a son
for she said, “Because the Lord fhas looked upon my affliction; for now my husband will love me.”

Genesis 30:6

6Then Rachel said, “God has gjudged me, and has also heard my voice and given me a son.” Therefore she called his name Dan.
 Dan sounds like the Hebrew for  judged

Genesis 30:8

8Then Rachel said, “With mighty wrestlings
Hebrew  With wrestlings of God
I have wrestled with my sister and have prevailed.” So she called his name jNaphtali.
 Naphtali sounds like the Hebrew for wrestling


1 Samuel 1:20

20And in due time Hannah conceived and bore a son, and she called his name Samuel, for she said, “I have asked for him from the Lord.”
 Samuel sounds like the Hebrew for heard of God


1 Samuel 4:21

21And she named the child mIchabod, saying, n“The glory has departed
Or gone into exile; also verse 22
from Israel!” because pthe ark of God had been captured and because of her father-in-law and her husband.
